Guest guest
What is the general opinion with regard to Brahmacharya as a spiritual pursuit? Is it not the essential first step to enter religion? (Feel free to say no) I am not referring to the methods (i.e. with God as focus or without, etc.) but rather to the pursuit. It would be nice if people discuss some of their efforts (from their own lives; here ofcourse methods matter) and give general opinions, taking care not to deviate into vulgarity of details. This forum could serve as a place where people could discuss the practical elements of religion, personal experiences in a more effective manner and that may benefit all. Guest guest
Are you referring to Brahmacharya as celibacy or the first ashrama stage of life? I think all Hindus are supposed to observe Brahmacharya when growing up.
Guest guest
Are you referring to Brahmacharya as celibacy or the first ashrama stage of life? I think all Hindus are supposed to observe Brahmacharya when growing up. Usually it is recognized as something hard to achieve, at least among most youth of today. I meant non-indulgence in lust (at physical or mental level), or along those lines, than the official first ashrama. I noticed that you had highlighted my statement of not watching TV in the other thread. It was for me a necessary step along the way, for the general television programs of today made it more or less impossible to doing what Hindus are supposed to do. (Western TV: I also live in the West, though am definite about moving back in 2-3 years).
