Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, The last two days this child was in San Ramon in November the hall was full of chairs. There was very little floor seating - only up near Mother. Was it that way for the rest of the November tour? Is this a trend to come? Anyone know? This isn't an idle question - I actually have a reason for asking it. Thanks Prasadini Aum Amriteswarayai Namaha! Terms of Service.
Guest guest
Yes, it was that way in Nov. Each visit there seems to be more chairs, less floor seating. Another newer trend that I experienced in LA was that the entire floor area was reserved for newcomers, with only two tiny patches off to the side and back marked off for the rest of us who prefer the floor. I too prefer to sit on the floor as it is much easier on my back. Plus, it seems that a lot more people can fit into floor space than chair space, otherwise we would all be in chairs during Devi Bhava. I don't get it either. Do they do chairs like this in India? love, Prajna Prasadini <ganesh1008 (AT) comcast (DOT) net> wrote: Namah Shivaya, The last two days this child was in San Ramon in November the hall was full of chairs. Namaskarams! probably they are putting out so many chairs cause so many of Amma's children are getting older and stiffer, and would find sitting on the floor to be a real pain now...when i first met Amma, i too was a floor sitter, and would spend hours on the floor doing pujas and singing bhajans and so on...but at the ripe old age of 54 i find that my legs have gotten a lot more stiff...the knees just ain't what they used to be...i was a treeplanter for years when a lot younger, and am somewhat overweight now, so they are just not as happy as they used to be when spending long periods on the floor...i will probably be one of the ones thankful for a chair...a little floor time is probably ok, but not so much anymore.... so i'm guessing that you can probably chalk it up to the oldsters in Amma's devotee base.... Guest guest
There have always been pleanty of chairs in the back and the sides. I, personally do better on the floor, and I am a youngster of 63. Another thing about chairs vs floors, is that people leave their seats and leave their stuff on them - and come back hours later. When stuff is left on the floor, one does not feel badly about moving it aside and sitting down. When someone leaves their stuff on a chair for hours, what does one do with it? So those chairs remain empty except to hold a shawl or book, etc., for hours on end, while other people wander around looking for a place to sit. Hmm. Guest guest
Amen to that. Ten rows of empty chairs with jackets and shawls on them. I think people sometimes race down three hours before the evening programs start and throw something down on the chairs, leave, and come back later to claim their "reserved" seats. It's a little rude and overly territorial. Jai Ma! Ananthasree Ammachi, Prasadini <ganesh1008> wrote: > > There have always been pleanty of chairs in the back and the sides. Guest guest
Actually that has nothing to do with it at all. It is for new people, and for the people who have to wait in line, as it is long. Also if there is press around, Amma likes the hall to look full like that and She wants things to be more inviting to the "main stream", that are not used to sitting on the floor.
