Guest guest
Dear Suzanne, Of course, there are many factors that could be contributing to this challenge, but they are all likely expressing "emptiness" (vata) physically, psychologically, spiritually, and hence the desire to "fill up". Here are some thoughts: Physical emptiness: from an excess of processed foods (typical to binge on "sweets" that do not "fill" the body with nutrients) - Try eating PLENTY of good fat (cod liver oil, raw butter, ghee, coconut oil, eggs, fatty stocks), alongside lots of vegetables (green leafy). Try this when you are getting a binge urge, even just a spoonful of fat with some raw honey. Psychological emptiness: lack of community or fulfilling relationships - Seek out your people. Go on retreats or to personal growth seminars, especially with friends or loved ones. Find work that is inspiring for you. Spiritual emptiness: lack of awareness of your Divine Nature and oneness with Spirit - Start a daily meditation practice. Try on "devotional" groups, chanting, and other "watery" spiritual practices. My very best wishes to you. In Health and Joy, Jacob Griscom, CAS Teaching Faculty: California College of Ayurveda Peaceful Living Holistic Healthcare Center 200 Providence Mine Rd. My name is Suzanne and I am 54 years old. I suffer from binge eating (all my life). Is there an herb or treatment that I can take to stop this urge? I am a vata and this is ruining my joy of life. Thank you in advance! Suzanne
Guest guest
-Ellen, When doing yoga, try these exercises. Usually when doing locust pose the fists are under the hip/leg joint. Put the fists under the ovaries and do locust. Sit on your heels, make fists of the hands, put fists into ovaries. Bend over until head is on floor and breathe in Baby Pose. Do these exercises when you do not have your period. Inverted postures are also contraindicated during menstruation. Baby pose is okay to do during menstruation. Some women find relief drinking ginger tea.
