Guru opinion on repeating more than one mantra?

Dear all,

A long time ago (2003), I had this compelling urge to listen/recite

the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya". Again, after a few years I now have felt

the need (early 2006) to recite "Om Namah Bhagavate Sathyadevaya". I

dont know much about mantra shastra, but is it ok to recite both the

mantras, sometimes one sometimes another? Do these 2 mantras conflict

in any way. Note that I have simply used not much more than my

intuition to arrive at these choice of mantras..

I am no expert at Mantra Shastra, but I will share the little that I know.

 

Om Namah Shivaya -- is one of the Prasidha Mantras which can be chanted by any

one without any side effects or initiation.

 

Om Namo Bhagavathe Satyadevaya -- Is the Mantra for Lord Satyanarayana,

ideally we can recite on any Pournima Day or Ekadasi Day for proptiating Lord

Satyanarayana instead of performing the complete Satyanarayana Vratam( of course

it is not a substitute for the vratham). It is a variation of another Prasidha

Mantra i.e. Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya.

 

They do not contradict with each other in any manner, so you are free to

recite both of them.
