Guest guest
Dear Viniji: Pravrajya yoga definitely gives an ascetic life. Though the person may not officially embrace Sanyasam, the person is likely to lead an ascetic existence. .....Whether the persons voluntarily and happily leads such a life..or are they prisoners of circumstances.....that will differ. The categories of Sanyasam will be clearly known by the planet that is the karaka of the yoga in the horoscope. For example, if Sun aspected by Saturn is positioned in the Drekkana of Saturn, the native becomes an ascetic of a high order. If the Moon is malefic and aspected by the lagna lord the native will become a miserable, distressed and wretched ascetic devoid of wealth and company who gets even his meals with difficulty. If, however, there exists a rajayoga in the horoscope, all the negative effects are removed and the nartive instead becomes a lord of the earth initiated into ascetism and virtuously inclined receives respect and reverence from other kings. The 10th lord in a trimsamsa of Jupiter indicates that the native will have good fortune but not indulging in enjoyments will devote himself to an austere life. This might have been the combination for many of the Raja rishis who inspite of being born in powerful Royal clans develop spiritual tendencies in their middle or later years and embrace a highly spiritual life of tapasya and contemplation. The yogas on Sanyasam are a chapter in themselves. One thing to be noted is that there exists only a thin line which seperates the life of a Sanyasi and the life of a wretchedly poor man who wants to lead a normal life but suffers penury. It is one of the ironies of human existence wherein there are pure souls that have been blessed with all comforts of life but willingly foresake EVERYTHING in the realization that all these material comforts are but illusions and impermanent, while there are other souls that crave for material indulgement but have been denied those comforts! Mere denial of pleasures or abstinence from all pleasurable activities on a physical level is not sanyasa.
