Guest guest
Dear Respected members In Kerala today a controversy has come to manifest in relation to what is known popularly as Vishu or Meda-samkramam of Surya (sidereal ingress of sun into Aries) and consequently two calendars have come to be published by Government of Kerala and Mathrubhumi(Publishing house)respectively. The following, factors, have been traditionally applied over benchmark value, viz Lankodayam(Sunrise in Lanka) to get apparent sunrise values for Trivandrum and various other places. a)Desantaram - Longitudinal difference converted to time, (b)Charaphalam and Pranakalantharam - the latitudinal component and Obliquity impact on sunrise ©Surya-Mandphalam,Aharmanam - eccentricity factor Aharamana was required to tranform the Lankodaya-sputam to Sthaneeyodayam without expressing the longitudes in terms of Mean Time. Now longitudes are available in terms of the Mean time, and hence application of Aharmanam to the longitudes expressed in Mean Time will derail the scientific process. It is heartening that, chandra hari has brought clarity on the issue with the illustration that, Mathrubhumi the premier publishing house had been following a wrong method in computing samkrama etc.. for last two decades. With Gods grace i feel ,Truth will unfold, with time, regarding issues like Ayanamsha, varga sambandhas etc. Thanks Pradeep
