Dear All,

Pravin's (P.Kumar) attack on Swee Chan, dragged my attention. As we

know Swee chan is a well learned astrologer, and Pravin comes into

our notice recently only.

Regarding the fight between Pravin (he started it) and Swee, I

fully agree with Kishor Mohan. In his own words, "whether swee is

right or is PKumar, it is irrelevant here. It is natural that small

skirmishes keep rising but I hope people will not vitiate the

atmosphere of the group. Please take the advise in good spirit."

But for me, since this small fight dragged my attention to Pravin, I

searched through some of Pravin's messages. Of course I found some

valuble comments here and there. I am presenting some of them (that

attracted my attention- below).

Comment -1

----------

1) Stick to basics.

2) Apply sound common sense.

3) Experiment profusely.

These are the secrets for learning correct astrology.

Comment -2 (On Kala sarpa Yoga)

-------------------------------

There is nothing like Kaal Sarpa Yoga (KSY) for following reasons:

1) There is no mention of this yoga in any of astrological classics.

Ask them to give a single quote from any of the standard classics

like BPHS.

2) So called KSY (full or partial) is there in the horoscopes of

Jawaharlal Nehru, Morarji Desai, Lata Mangeshkar, Margaret Thatcher,

Ariel Sharon, Atal Bihari Vajpai and even in the available horoscope

of Akbar the great. Would you not like to be like them ?

3) So called full KSY stays there for 14-15 days in a stretch.

Partial KSY may stay even for months. Do you feel that millions born

during the period will share the same ill luck due to this single

factors ? Remember, subtleties are important in astrology. It is your

lagna, Navamsa lagna and lagnas of other divisionals that are

important. In Hindu astrology we find reference of Nadi Amsas and

even first and second half of it which gives us different results for

every 24 seconds.

4) Renowned astrologer Shri K.N.Rao has refuted this so called bad

yoga in his excellent book, "Kaal Sarpa Yoga - Why such fright". It

must be read thoroughly.

Even otherwise there is no KSY in your horoscope as three planets

are on one side and four on the other side of the Rahu-Ketu axis. You

should prepare yourself for a very good future awaiting you, keeping

aside such pseudo-concepts.

Tell those Gem-stone selling astrologers to give interpretation on

strangers' horoscopes and see their caliber. Everything else is much

easier.

Comment -3

----------

My take on gemstones is that it should be used more as an ornament.

Gemstones for functionally benefic planets may be preferred. Nothing

can radically change your destiny, at least in this life. Rather,

taking help of mantras and devotion to the God is more important.

Following a simple life helping the needy ones may give you inner

peace and spiritual advancement.

Comment -4

Don't run after gems. It is more a business than anything else.

===============================================================

[Regarding Gems I would like to remind Pravin that, even though I

agree with most of his arguments, The use of Gems (along with other

things) as a remedial measure is supported by the classics as well,

to an extent, even though detailed rules are not available]

I agree with these comments or not is another thing - but of

course, those words could come only from the mouth of a sincere

astrologer who sticks to the basics. He wants to improve his

knowledge by all means such as experimenting/testing other

astrologers/reading etc. All these things are also evident in the

words of JK as well. I can not end this mail with out quoting the

valuable words of JK:

"we should concentrate to increase our knowledge rather than trying

to find out how much others know. .......none of us is perfect &

human being only. we must stop the practice of criticizing others on

how much one knows or how much one do not know."

I agree with it, while appreciating the knowledge of Swee and

Pravin. I would suggest pravin not to make things personal, as far as

possible. (even though I too used to commit that mistake at times) :)

Love,

Sreenadh

Dear sreenadh,

You hit at the right point. Whether one may or may not agree with

others, it should not become personal.

Personally, I do to gems but lots of practical

apprehensions. It is indeed a business and often, the ethics are

left to winds in order to sell.

Of course, this is happening in every profession. For eg., Nowadays,

doctors dont sooth. They scare. In the pretext of precaution, they

make you undergo scores of unnecessary and unrelated tests and you

become a milch cow of money for them. It is your need and anxiety

that makes them look for an opportunity to loot your money. (My

apologies to any doctors on this group but frankly, this is what is

happening especially in corporate hospitals) The doctors are accused

of prescribing a long list of medicines, because they are supposed to

be getting commissions.

But because of this commercially unethical behaviour of doctors, you

can not say that the medical science does not exist or is a wrong

science.

Similiarly, there might be astrologers who prescribe stones only on

the basis of what they are getting out of sale rather than on the

basis of what is right for the native. if the vendors of the stones

are behaving greedy, you can not blame the science

As an aside, I remember that sometime ago, there was an attack on

prof sanjay rathji. Ironically, that is the first time I heard of him

and when I made more research, I could see how great a person he is.

So, if you are really great, the attacks on you will only make you

shine more. That is to say, the person who is attacked should react

more maturedly, even as it is wrong to attack a person in public fora

on personal grudges.

HOpe the point is taken.
