Guest guest
while the sphatic mala is good, there are some pre conditions for starting Gayatri japa 1)be off any addictions like tobacco, alclhol, drugs, 2)be vegitarian 3)learn the right way of Gayatri recitation from an accomplished master, 4)do not take up Gayatri japa for attaining any earthly desires, it does not work that way 5)give charity to those who are needy 6)do Gayatri japa at sunrise , or sunset, not in between, badc00kie <badc00kie wrote: Namaskar Which type of mala is appropriate for chanting the the following gayatri mantras: savitur gayatri and brihaspati gayatri (rg veda) I have the following types 108 bead malas and could obtain others if required: neem, tulsi, sandle, red sandle, sphatik (quartz crystal) Justin Visit your group "vedic astrology" on the web. vedic astrology Photos – NEW, now offering a quality print service from just 8p a photo. Guest guest
Dear Shri. Justin: The best way of counting the Savitur Gayathri japa is "Hasta Rekha pradakshina krama" in which the thumb is placed on the middle segment of the ring finger (phalangeal seperation lines), the basal phalangeal line of the ring finger, basal line of the little finger, going up to the middle, and the distal phalangeal lines, moving on to the distal phalangeal line of the ring finger, distal phalangeal line of the middle finger, distal phalangeal line of the fore finger, the middle phalangealline of the fore finger, and the basal phalangeal line of the fore finger. This will make a count of 10. Now start from the basal phalangeal line of the fore finger and move backwards (like middle line of forefinger, distal line of the forefinger, then middle finger distal line, ring finger distal line, little finger distal line, coming down to middle line of the little finger, then basal line of the little finger, then the basal line of the ring finger and ending with the middle phalangeal line of the ring figer). You should avoid directly jumping from the proximal phalange of the forefinger (at the count of 10) to the middle phalange of ring finger as this will give rise to a dosha called "Meru lankana" which means crossing over the Meru irreverently! Kindly be careful in this regard. This is called "Hasta-meru parikrama" - means circumambulating the Meru in the hand. In the human hand, the middle phalange and the proximal phalange of the middle phalange are symbolic of Meru. When you do the Japa count as I have described in the previous paragraph, it is like making a circumambulation around the Meru in your hand which is highly auspicious. It is better you discuss this with some learned pandit in your region if you have any doubts regarding this procedure. This is the BEST method of counting Savitur Gayathri. For Brihaspati, counting by any of the beads mentioned by you except neem will be auspicious. The selection of the bead should be in accordance with your purpose. For example, if you desire attraction then red sandal bead will be good; clarity of thought can be obtained by sphatik, and so on.... Blessed be.vedic astrology, "badc00kie" <badc00kie> wrote: > > Namaskar > > Which type of mala is appropriate for chanting the the following > gayatri mantras: savitur gayatri and brihaspati gayatri (rg veda) > > I have the following types 108 bead malas and could obtain others if > required: > > neem, tulsi, sandle, red sandle, sphatik (quartz crystal) > > Justin >
