I apologize for the pending work - Translation of your work on navamshas.

But in continuation to your recent discussion on

Sign,Planet,Bhava,Sign-Bhava,Sign-Planet,Sign-Bhava-Planet,i am quoting couple

of examples w.r to NAVAMSHA from your article for the benefit of list members.

 

I request list members to read Bhava-Graha,Sign-Bhava,Sign-Bhava-Graha Navamsha

examples ,with due attention.

 

1)Sign

Reference Shloka from Saravali.

'' Athomshake Lagnagathethu Vakshye Varna Swabhavakriti Lakshanani

Pradhana Veeryemshapathau shasheeva talswami rashi kramaso Vidhathe''

 

Now i will explain the navamasha results for Lagnarashis from Aries

onwards.Colour,Character,Shape,Marks/features etc should be understood with the

help of these.Similar

 

analysis has to be done using the navamshas of chandra as well as individual

grahas.If the lord of the navamsha is strong,results will be full.I will explain

them in order.

 

The shloka starting with ''Ajasamsthanamukhassya .....'' is giving the results

for the one who is born in the first navamsha of Aries Rashi as Lagna.Face

resemling that of a goat,small nose etc.Similarly Sthana Phala for 108

navamshas are being explained.

 

Similarly in shadvargaphalaprakasham - Results for birth happening in

first,second navsmahas of any sign has been given.

 

2)Bhava

Ashtamadhipa having amsha in 7th,Lagna having amsha in 9th or having Bhagya

navamsha etc are examples.

 

3)Sthana(Sign)-Graha

 

Two sub-categories can fall under sthana-graha w.r to Navamsha.

a)Bhavanadhipa Phalam(The lord of the sign) - Navamsha results based on the lord

of the sign in which a graha is having amsha.(Bhavanadhipa shloka from Saravali

is applicable)

b)Rashi Phalam - Results for planets from Sun onwards due to their amshas in the

rashis of various planets.

''Navamashake Swe Savitha .....''Shloka from ShadvargaPhalaPrakasham - If Sun

has amsha in swakshethra,he will have happiness,quarellsome,cunning or adopting

questionable means,and suffering from diseases.

 

Also in Varahahora- If the lagnamshaka Rashi(Rashi in which Lagna is having

amsha) is having strength,then the colour and nature will be as that prescribed

for it,On the other hand if lagnamshaka rashi is not strong,then the colour of

the planet placed in Lagna will have preference.Here the importance of the Rashi

in whcih the graha is having navamsha is mentioned.This is a significant point

to be noted.

 

4)Bhava-Graha

 

Shloka from Varahahora starting with ''Saurarkshe Lagnage

SenduShukre..............Kujamshe asthe SurinaVyadhiyoni .........''

If the seventh Rashi from Lagna Rashi is having amsha of Kuja as well as drishti

of Saturn,the lady born will have diseases related to Yoni.On the other hand if

seventh from Lagna rashi is having Shubhamsha,she will have good hips(Sushroni).

 

Also the shloka from Prashna Kauthukam starting with

''Aarudhal Kendragathe Baladhya Divakarey Swarnanavamsha nadhe Nripaprasadam

Dhanalabha sukhyam........''

If Sun happens to be the lord of Swarnamsha and is situated in a kendra from

Aarudha Lagna Recognition from King,happiness wealth etc are guaranteed.Here we

can see kendra results are seen from Rashi chakra w.r to the navamsha lord.

 

5)Sign-Bhava

Shloka from Prashna Marga starting with

''Dareshasthe Navamsheshe Moodhey Neechari Bhagagey

Papantharey Papadrishtey Kalathranthara BhagBhavel''

 

Consider the lord of the navamsha Rashi in which the seventh lord from lagna is

having amsha.If he is posited in Neecha Kshethra or Shathru Kshethra or is

having amshaka in such,or is combusted or situated between papas or is aspected

by Papas - Possility is there for multiple marriages.This is a perfect example

showing Sign,House and Navamsha.

 

 

6)Sign-Bhava-Graha

 

Shloka from Varahahora starting with ''Vridho Moorkha Sooryajarkshemshake

Va......''

If the seventh Rashi from Lagna is Makara or Kumbha and if saturn is having

amshaka(navamsha) in that rashi - husband will be old and devoid of knowledge.

Here seventh Bhava for spouse matters(Parashara) and Navamsha for spouse

matters(parashara) are combined to understand the nature of husband along with a

planet.Saturn representing old etc.

 

Similarly there are numerous shlokas in various classics depicting proper usage

of navamsha and on where to see Bhavas.I request the attention of all respected

learned members.

Yes,exactly.Thus it means navamsha sign of mangal is the 7th bhava in

Rashi.Classically navamsha is always related to its Rashi.A planet apart from

its placement in a kshethra,will also be harmonically related to another

rashi.This rashi is what we find as navamsha.

 

This particular shloka is from Varahahora.I will give the complete Shloka.

 

Saurarakshe Lagnage SenduShukre

Mathram sardham Bandhakee Papadrishte

Kaujamshe(A)sthe Saurina VyadhiYoni-

scharu shroneevallabha Sadgrahamshe

 

If chandra and Shukra are in lagna (combined or alone) and if Lagna Rashi

happens to be Makara,Kumbha or Mesha, and if there is a malefic aspect on lagna

Rashi,then the said woman and her mother will be devoid of pathivrithyam or

character.If Mars is having navamshakam in the 7th from Lagna(navamsha of mars

is the same as 7th in rashi) and if saturn is also having a drishti on the

seventh,she will have Yoni roga.If a shubha graha is having amshaka in the

7th,then she will become the pet of her husband by virtue of beautiful hips.

 

Thus Varahamihira is pretty clear here.This is not an isolated shloka,as we have

numerous similar examples.
