Guest guest
Dear All: I took a voluntary break from this group as some of my posts had earlier caused some controversy. But, I have been following this forum with interest with some wonderful posts from Dakshina Guruji regarding marital compatibility issues based on queries of members. Shreenadhji has raised some fundamental queries about marital compatibility for research. I think Guruji will not directly answer to that post because he is averse to taking a high ground while researching Rishi Pramanas and accepted traditions. He will choose to ignore queries like " Is compatibility recommended in the Vedas?". So, I thought I will fill in. Guruji used to say that the marital compatibility as per accepted traditions is a must unless one of the following three conditions is satisfied: 1) The couple are in deep love and are firm about marrying each other. This is called "Mana porutham" - compatibility of the minds that have taken a liking to each other. Care should be taken to ensure that this is not mere infatuation. 2) It is a Guru Niyamanam/ Deiva Niyamanam, i.e., the Guru of a person ordains that he should marry such and such person based on his intuition, or when some miraculous guidances due to Divine Intervention indicate that the marriage between two couples should be solemnized ( a very rare occurrence except in the lives of persons living a highly pious life). Infact Guruji's marriage itself was Deiva Niyamanam....Their horoscopes were not compatible astrologically. He got a clear guidance that he will be meeting his bride at an appointed time on an appointed day. He did not even venture out of his house on that day, and lo... at the exact time as per his intuition, he got a proposal and the marriage took place within 1 month. I do not think Guruji will want to discuss his personal life here.... But, this is just for information of the forum members that there are other criteria that determine marital matters besides traditional compatibility factors. 3) The bride is won in a contest as in ancient swayamvarams which is the prefered marriage for kshatriyas or as kanya daanam for an expert in vedic sacrifices when the father of the bride gives the girl in marriage to the expert who has shown rare tapasya powers which is applicable to vedic brahmins. This third condition is no longer relevant in these modern times. I think forum members would have also noted that some of the factors that guruji has been writing about are not traditional factors but based on horoscopic factors like mutual position of lagna lords, marital yogas, and ashtavarga factors. These have much relevance even today and are based on much individual research from guruji's professional practice. These are the methods which he teaches to his students in his personal classes. Blessed be.
