Respected sirs,

Can anybody explain how to find the Varnada Lagna? Also

why it is always coming in Aswini star, pada 1(Jhora reference) even

if the Lagna falls in signs other than Aries?

I tried to find out the Varnada Lagna as mentioned below from BPHS

but failed, may be due to some misunderstatnding or any faulty

calculation. If anybody can explain correctly with an example, pls

help.

>From BPHS

"Varnada Dasha. I now detail Varnada Dasha, just by knowing which one

can deal with the longevity of a native. If the natal Lagna is an odd

Râúi, count directly from Aries to natal Lagna. If the natal Lagna is

an even Râúi, count from Pisces to the natal Lagna in the reverse

order. Similarly, if the Hora Lagna is an odd one, count from Aries

to Hora Lagna in direct order. If the Hora Lagna is an even one,

count from Pisces to Hora Lagna in the reverse order. If both the

products are odd Râúis, or even Râúis, then add both the figures. If

one is odd and the other is even, then know the difference between

the two products. If the latest product in this process is an odd

one, count so many Râúis from Aries in a direct manner; if an even

one, count so many Râúis from Pisces in reverse order. The Râúi so

known will be the Varnada for Lagna. "

Respected Sir,

Thanks for the information. I have BPHS with me and understood

how VL is calculated. (I did it wrongly first time). But I still dont

get why the star in which it falls is first pada of Aswini for all

people even when it is in signs other than Aries. I didnt find any

reference to that neither in BPHS nor in Jaimini sutras.

If I had overlooked something pls give me the reference in the

books.

Regards,

Jyothi
