Guest guest
Dear Shri. Venkatesh: 1) Devi is "Karunaa swaroopinii". Even her ugra forms are only for the destruction of evils including the evils of our mind! Regarding the idols of dasa maha vidyas, infact there are idols for atleast some dasa Maha vidyas.... For instance, Madurai Meenakshi is none but Maatangi Devi (Also called shyamala devi)... ofcourse, Kali temples are found in most villages... Neela saraswathi (Tara)idol is found in Shri Prathiyangira temple at Uthandi, Mahalakshmi has her special sannidhis in all Perumal temples, Dhoomavati is none but Peetahari (pidaari amman in common parlance), Bhuvaneswari temple in Pudukkottai is very famous and so on......Their different names mislead many into thinking that dasa maha vidya idols are not commonly worshipped. Infact, the Dasa Maha Vidyas are the source powers behind the Dasa Avatars of Shri Maha Vishnu. So, wherever the different avatars of Shri Vishnu have an idol, the corresponding vidya is unconsciously worshipped! Of course, you are right in saying that Dasa Maha vidya sampradaya is not very strong in Tamil Nadu. There is nothing wrong in worshipping Mother Goddess in ANY form you wish. She is an Ocean of Kindness. She is Lalitha - of playful disposition to her devotees and she will be willing to take any form as you wish! Dasa Maha Vidya worship is based on tantrik concepts and most popular in Bengali tradition. 2) Abhishekam should be done for the consecrated Shiva Lingam using Namakam chant and then, archanai should be done using Chamakam. This is the procedure for this. Shiva Pooja requires a high degree of mental and ritual purity if you want to do it according to shastraic tenets. But, Lord Shiva is Ashutosh - "One who is easily pleased". Worshipping Lord Shiva chanting the Shiva Maanasa Pooja will be an easier and safer option for the uninitiated. It is best to learn the intricacies of Shiva Pooja (or any other Deity Pooja for that matter!) from upasakas who are doing daily worship on that Deity. The Grace of the Upasaka will definitely cover for the possible shortcomings in your worship. These things cannot be eloborated further in an email. Blessed be. --- Venkatesh S <ksvssvk wrote: > JAI SRIRAM > > Dear Shri.Dhakshinamoorthi, > > 1.Upto my little knowldege there are is nowhere > the idol of DasaMahaVidya's in any of the Shiva > temples in Tamilnadu.
