Saturn Mars combination ( Unmad Yoga)

Dear Vistiji, Nitin, Rafalji....

Namaste!

I had posed a similar question earlier but since I didn't get a

response I am posing it again.

The combination of Mars and Saturn is supposed to give rise to Unmad

Yoga. Probably this means no peace of mind? Now my question is

whether such a yoga can be caused by aspect (and not necessarily a

conjunction)? My next question is that if Mars is a Maraka (Taurus

Lagna) and deposited in 8th House of longevity and aspected by karaka

of 8th House Saturn, what would be the net impact of this on life

span? What happens when there is an exchange of karakas - Mars karaka

of 6th House is placed in 8th and Saturn karaka of 8th house is

placed in 6th? Mars in 8th which is 12th to 7th is said to be

a "dosha" leading to loss of spouse but if Mars is posited 8th in the

chart of both the spouses (one having Taurus Lagna and the other

having Aries Lagna) will the effect cancel out or the chart having

the stronger Mars (Aries Lagna) hold sway?

With regards,

Vinita

Hi Vinita,

Saturn being in the 6th has dristi on the 8th and will try to prolong life. Mars

is however a maraka for taurus lagna and being in the 8th will try to shorten

it. However, saturn is the yogakaraka and exalted in libra looking at

saggitarius and Jupiter is the lord of saggitarius and if he is well positioned

then there is not much threat to life as such.

Now Mars is the 7th lord in the 8th then the person is manglik. According to

what I learnt from Sanjay-ji, the spouse has to suffer manglik aspects such as

excessive fighting, etc. However, if both of them have it, then they say there

is no threat to life of each other's partner.

Hope this helps.

- Jai

Dear Jai,

Namaste!

Many thanks for your quick response. U have mentioned that Jupiter

should be placed well. Jupiter is in 2nd with Sun, Mercury and Ketu.

Mars, of course is with Rahu. Any change in the earlier opinion based

on this additional data?

Dear Vinita Ji and List Members, Namaskaar.

Some of my thoughts are below.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Dear Vistiji, Nitin, Rafalji....

Namaste!

I had posed a similar question earlier but since I didn't get a

response I am posing it again.

The combination of Mars and Saturn is supposed to give rise to Unmad

Yoga. Probably this means no peace of mind?

Now my question is whether such a yoga can be caused by aspect (and

not necessarily a conjunction)?

[NK]

I am not too familiar with this yog, but consider the aspects of

Saturn (Shani) and Mars (Mangal) in a 1/7 relationship to be

challenging when we better understand the nature of these grahas.

You may have some challenges relating to peace of mind as the Moon

in your chart is aspected by retrograde (vakri) Mars and retrograde

Saturn. These two planets are carrying a greater intensity.

[Please see chart below to verify details.]

[NK]

Here, I would like to consider Argala. As any planet forces its

results on the house it naturally owns, we can see that Shani Dev

will force its effects to the 8th House.

Likewise, Mars will have Virodha Argala to the 6th House.

Verify – did you have any health issues when approx. 47 years of

age? This may be related to your throat / chest area?

Mars in 8th which is 12th to 7th is said to be

a "dosha" leading to loss of spouse but if Mars is posited 8th in the

chart of both the spouses (one having Taurus Lagna and the other

having Aries Lagna) will the effect cancel out or the chart having

the stronger Mars (Aries Lagna) hold sway?

[NK]

Mars in the 8th is 2nd from the 7th. The entire chart has to be seen

in perspective.

Consider, also in this chart the Arudha Lagna (AL) and the Vyaya

Pada or Upa Pada (UL / A12). They are in a 2/12 relationship where

you are very giving to the spouse. However, with continued effort

and trying to appease the partner, there may be a tendency to ignore

the spouse at some point of time.

Source -- If there are challenges, there will be relating to 2nd

House – i.e.defining what you consider the sources of sustenance and

family.

I am drifting from your original question here, I know, but here is

a recent article on the Upa Pada:

May the Gurus continue to guide us.

Best wishes,

Nitin.

Hi Vinita,

Ok, now that jupiter and mercury are sitting in the 2nd with mars, and rahu

aspecting it, it does form a curse. However, it looks like a mercurial curse?

Why? Mars+Rahu two natrual malefics, aspect the 2nd house, the 2nd lord and the

karakas for the 2nd house (Jupiter) and moon(mars's 8th aspect, saturn's 12th

aspect). Also, since Mars+Rahu is in the 8th, there is a strong karmic

connection to this. Therefore the curse is centered around 2 things - family

(since moon is involved) and Jupiter (wealth). There are going to be problems in

both these avenues of life. Since the curse occurs in a common house, it can be

overcome apparently with much effort.

As far as threat to life, i don't believe there is much to worry about, because

the 8th from the 8th has two benefic planets moon+ven (moon in own house) also.

Thanks,

- Jai

Hi Jai,

Many thanks for your response. You have written:

"As far as threat to life, i don't believe there is much to worry

about, because

the 8th from the 8th has two benefic planets moon+ven (moon in own

house) also."

My response to that is that I am not worried about threat to life. I

have a desire that I should not live very long. U have mentioned

about the benefics in 8th to 8th but I am told that both these

benefics are involved in a curse to (or from?) Saturn and Mars. What

would be impact of this on longevity?

Hi Vinita,

This is what I understand about curses. If the curse has to function there are 3

attributes that need to be afflicted. The house, it's lord and the karaka for

the house. In your case the 2nd house, it's lord mercury and it's karakas moon

(for family) and jupiter (for wealth) are afflicted. Hence it is a curse caused

by mercury.

For the 8th house - the 8th house is afflicted, the 8th lord is afflicted, but

the karaka for the 8th house (saturn) is not afflicted by either mars or rahu.

For the 3rd house you are right, you can say that it has a curse (8th from the

8th) - 3rd house is aspected by mars+sat, 3rd lord is afflicted by mars+sat, the

karaka for the 3rd mars (for brothers and parakrama) is afflicted by sat+rah.

However, couple of things - 1) since the curse is occuring in a movable sign it

is probably less intense 2) venus who is the atmakaraka is involved making this

a possible curse, 3) I'm not quite sure if Mars is the karaka for 3rd house

matters that relate to long life - Someone needs to confirm this. 4) finally,

venus is the lord of lagna and the one that gives long life (being that venus

represents the mrityunjaya) in the 3rd would protect you.

As for when the curses get activated, we can look at the Moola-dasha's. From

1985 to 1988 it was mars's moola dasha and from 1988 until July-2005 it was

Rahu's moola dasha, so i would imagine these to be the times when the effect of

the curses were being felt.

Now as for your "iccha" or desire to not live long, that can be a powerful

thing. That is why they say that the graha's have so much influence on us, since

they produce in us the desire to act (since they fill our minds with thought).

So, think of brihaspathi (jupiter), Surya (sun) and chandra (moon) to have good

thoughts come into your mind as these three planets represent "Sattva" guna.

Hence ||Hare Ramakrishna|| (Hare - Jupiter, Rama-Sun, Krishna-Moon) is a great

mantra to put these three grahas into my mind.

Regards,

- Jai

Dear Jai,

My sincere thanks for your time in analysing my chart. Of the

planets involved in curses, the Moola dasa is over for most of them

excepting Venus which will start from 2015. Any pointers on what

this dasa period will hold for me?

As for the ikcha not to live very long..........it is not that I am

depressed or anything.....but its a wish nevertheless. Have to

accept whatever is fated, anway........

Regards,

Vinita

function there are 3 attributes that need to be afflicted. The

house, it's lord and the karaka for the house. In your case the 2nd

house, it's lord mercury and it's karakas moon (for family) and

jupiter (for wealth) are afflicted. Hence it is a curse caused by

mercury.

>

> For the 8th house - the 8th house is afflicted, the 8th lord is

afflicted, but the karaka for the 8th house (saturn) is not

afflicted by either mars or rahu.

>

> For the 3rd house you are right, you can say that it has a curse

(8th from the 8th) - 3rd house is aspected by mars+sat, 3rd lord is

afflicted by mars+sat, the karaka for the 3rd mars (for brothers and

parakrama) is afflicted by sat+rah. However, couple of things - 1)

since the curse is occuring in a movable sign it is probably less

intense 2) venus who is the atmakaraka is involved making this a

possible curse, 3) I'm not quite sure if Mars is the karaka for 3rd

house matters that relate to long life - Someone needs to confirm

this. 4) finally, venus is the lord of lagna and the one that gives

long life (being that venus represents the mrityunjaya) in the 3rd

would protect you.

>

> As for when the curses get activated, we can look at the Moola-

dasha's. From 1985 to 1988 it was mars's moola dasha and from 1988

until July-2005 it was Rahu's moola dasha, so i would imagine these

to be the times when the effect of the curses were being felt.

> Now as for your "iccha" or desire to not live long, that can be a

powerful thing. That is why they say that the graha's have so much

influence on us, since they produce in us the desire to act (since

they fill our minds with thought). So, think of brihaspathi

(jupiter), Surya (sun) and chandra (moon) to have good thoughts come

into your mind as these three planets represent "Sattva" guna. Hence

||Hare Ramakrishna|| (Hare - Jupiter, Rama-Sun, Krishna-Moon) is a

great mantra to put these three grahas into my mind.
