Guest guest
Dear Shri.Vivah, A planet owning trines is a benefic. Natural malefics owning quadrant houses from the ascendant become benefics and vice versa. The lords of 11th, 9th, and 7th houses become malefic for chara rasis, sthira rasis and Ubaya Rasis respectively. These are the general principles. Apart from these, any benefic planet associated with a malefic sucks out its malefic effects, but in the process gets itself poisoned. There are so many avasthas of planets. If you take Baladi avastha (like bala, taruna, etc. till vruddha) synonymous to life stages, a planet in Bala avastha (in the early degrees of a sign) or Vriddha avastha (in the end degrees of a sign) are not powerful to cause good effects. Ideally, the planet should be in the young adult stage. I hope I have thrown atleast some light on what you have asked. Best wishes. vedic astrology, "vivahsearch" <vivahsearch@y.. ..> wrote: > > Respected Gurus > > Could you pls give some insights on how to decide whether a planet is > a benefic or malefic in a given chart i.e taking into account > avasthas, lordship, placement, etc. > > Thanks > > K >
Guest guest
chart. Let say, Saturn is a functional benefic for Taurus ascendant. If is badly placed or in bad avastha (debiliated, or combust), then this does not snatch the status of Saturn of beign functional benefic. Here it would simply mean functional benefic is weak due to bad avastha. Guest guest
Imran, You have put this in a good way. Jupiter and Venus are pure natural benefics while Mercury and Moon are conditional natural benefic. Saturn, Mars and nodes are natural malefic, while Sun is crura rather paap. > > Second behaviour of graha is functional, that depends upon the ascendant, and unique to every lagna. Parasara classification is widely accepted and followed. Please see, BPHS and Laghu Parasari that discuss the critera to mark whether a planet is functional benefic or malefic. > > Dont confuse AVASTHA and PLACEMENT with benefic/malefic attribute of planets. Avastha and placement determine planet's strength in the chart. Let say, Saturn is a functional benefic for Taurus ascendant. Guest guest
I have Moon, Mercury , Venus and Ketu in the 11th house. Does that mean that Moon, Mercury are malefics in my chart. Mercury in gemini in its own rashi.
