Guest guest
Dear group members, I have been following the discussions on kundalini awakening in this forum with interest. The controversy seems to be unending! I thought that I will also place in this forum certain things that I am aware of in this regard: 1) Kundalini awakening is possible in women. Infact, tantrik worship accords great importance to women followers. Certain dikshas like "Tara diksha" (one of the powerful Dasa Maha Vidyas) are most effective when they are received from women. Women are hailed as "Shakti" in tantrik works. The process of kundalini awakening is a tantrik concept and it is really surprising that people should feel that kundalini awakening is impossible for women! 2) Kundalini is actually a psychic process that manifests in the physical body. So, the difference in the anatomy does not matter at all. Just as life is universal for all living beings, kundalini awakening is a process that is common to all intelligent living beings. 3) Ancient siddhas have opined "Kandavar vindilar; vindavar kandilar" (it means "Those who have experienced it cannot explain it; and those who wax eloquent on this have not experienced it!). The great yogis who have experienced kundalini actualization will never come out in the open about their experiences! I purposefully avoid using the term activation, because activation is a commonly experienced thing though many persons who have had their kundalini activated are not aware of it. Great ideas, brain waves that give solution to long-standing problems, abnormal feats of physical endurance in times of crisis, mystic experiences, etc. are all possible only due to a temporarily awakened kundalini. These experiences are common to both males and females. The experiences of the soul have no distinctions such as caste, creed, habits, or sex of individuals. Only karmic paths have distinctions. But, most of us will not realize that it is the kundalini shakthi that is behind abnormal feats of physical endurance or mental abilities! Kundalini actualization (realizing the complete potential of kundalini in the body) actually leads to final emancipation of the soul. When kundalini is actualized, all karmas are burned away. 4) When kundalini is awakened in most of us, it is a transient experience when our mental and physical faculties are focused beyond normal limits due to various reasons. However, kundalini yoga as such should be approached with caution. I would even recommend abstaining from it, because in Siva Gita it is mentioned that we may experience "Rasayana Siddhi" - which means a false sense of accomplishment and illusions. YOu may forget your yogic ideals and get misled. I believe that most asuras had this which ultimately led to their downfall! Its erratic movement in the nadis may result in dangerous side-effects including irrevocable insanity, psychological fixations, physical ailments, etc. Having complete faith in a Godhead (in whatever form you like!), practising safe hatha yoga practices, doing your daily tasks with concentration, following the 8-fold yogic path of yama, niyama, etc., and trying to cultivate perfect mental equanimity under all circumstances will be a better option. In such a balanced life, kundalini will manifest automatically in a harmonious way leading to final liberation from the cycle of birth and death. 5) Discussing such advanced topics controversially in these forums is like "One blind man leading another one!" We are all only seekers and it is not for us (I include myself in this) to issue sweeping judgements in this regard. It is better to read standard yogic texts of sages like Patanjali, Tirumoolar, Vasishta Maharishi, and other tantrik texts to get a better idea. What is more, let us try to put them in practice because "An ounce of practice is worth tons of theory". Blessed be. ________ India Matrimony: Find your partner now.
