Guest guest
Courier">While reading few books on Ashtaka Varga, I have come accors few authors opine that the Ashtaka Varga should be calculated from the Bhava chart rather than the Rasi Chart. I would like to request you to take the following example and guide me, whether it is a good idea to calculate Ashtkavarga from Bhava chart is more meaningful or not? ms"> Here I am not arguing and taking any one side of either Bhava Chart base is better and Rasi chart based calculations are not correct, rather presenting my thought and requesting you to clarify my doubt and guide me accordingly. As we know, on an average every sign rises for about 2 hours. Let us take an example to go over my doubt. Suppose Native "X" is born when the Lagna is in 1 deg of a sign and Native "Y" is born with a Lagna of 29 deg of the same sign. We can see the time difference between these two native are about 1 hour and 50 min (approximately). So for these two natives, the lagna's and the planets remain in the same signs resulting the AsktakaVarga charts and calculations will be same too. So the question comes to my mind is : will the events experienced by Native X and Y be the same ? If not, then the AsktakaVarga calculated on the basis of the Rashi Chart is not appropriate. Is it not ? Courier">So may I request you to please throw some light on the above and guide me so that my study will be in the right direction on this area of AshtakaVarga. I know, many of us will be travelling during the thanks giving holidays (including me), so keep the knowledge flowing in this thread, so that when I come back next week, I will try to read the discussion and learn from you all. Thanks for your help in clearing my doubt in advance. Regards Raghunatha Rao FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
Guest guest
Namaste Raghunath and others, Just a couple of pointers - (1) Ashtakavarga is not about houses from lagna. It is about houses from lagna and houses from other seven other references. Suppose lagna is at 29 deg in Vi and Jupiter is at 1 deg in Li. If you say that Jupiter is not in the 2nd house but in the first house from lagna, it makes sense to me. But what about other references? Suppose lagna is at 15 deg in Vi and the first house falls entirely in Vi and the second house falls entirely in Li. Suppose Sun is at 29 deg in Vi (i.e. in the first house from lagna) and Jupiter is at 1 deg in Li (i.e. in the second house from lagna). Will you then use the bhava chakra drawn from lagna and count Jupiter to be in the second house from Sun or will you find a new bhava chakra w.r.t. Sun's longitude again and say that Jupiter is in the first house from Sun, because they are so close? If you want to use bhava chakra instead of rasi chakra for ashtakavarga, the above is a vital question. So far, everyone who attempted to use bhava chakra for AV has done injustice to other references. (2) If the reason for adopting bhava chakra is that lives of people born an hour apart in the same rising sign are different, I don't see merit. It is entirely conceivable that AV of D-1 is not sufficient to know one's fortune and we need AVs of divisional charts or cross-AVs between rasi and divisions. Those will be different. (3) Sri CS Patel was the main proponent of ashtakavarga calculation from chalita/bhava chakra. I believe his student, Sri RG Krishnan, also used bhava chakra based ashtakavarga for several years. I believe he wrote some books too. I met Sri RG Krishnan at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in May 2005. He is a very nice, spiritual and open-minded gentleman and I was so happy to meet him. He confirmed to me that he now uses rasi based ashtakavarga and finds it better. Still, if you are interested in using bhava chakra, you may do so. But think logically and do it in a logical and coherent way. What Sri Patel did is definitely questionable, for he found non-sign-aligned houses from lagna and did not do so from other references.
