Guest guest
Dear Robert, I have an example chart which has KAY with both Maha-Shankha and Maha-Padma yogas. In his early years, the native had lots of dreams where snakes were hanging from the trees. He hears voices from the unknown( or beyond). He also sees some visions repeatedly and that makes him nauseous. Another fact about him is that he is very social. Currently he is 22 years old and a college student. I am attaching his chart and his birth details are: November 7, 1983 Time: 1:36:00 AM Time Zone: 6:00:00 (West of GMT) Place: 87 W 39, 41 N 51 Chicago, IL, USA Thanks, Devika.Robert Koch <rk (AT) robertkoch (DOT) com> wrote: Om Gurave Namah~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dear Rizwan, Namaste - When the planets are between Ketu and Rahu, and thus moving toward Rahu, the yoga is called Kala-Sarpa. On the other hand, when the grahas move from Rahu to Ketu, the yoga goes by the name Kala-Amrta. Naturally one would expect the former one to bring more of an unstable karmic experience into the life than the latter, yet the Kala-Amrta yoga will bring these kinds of influences and experiences as well. The difference may be understand simply by bearing in mind the difference in effect between Rahu and Ketu. The mere suggestion that all the planets are moving toward Ketu, for example, may suggest a path in life wherein the Atma becomes disinterested in the mundane world thus inclining the him strongly toward Moksa. If the grahas are moving toward Rahu, then it may be that the person has to experience crisis at intervals and the shocking realization that everything can and will be taken away from him at a moment's notice. This could especially happen at the age when Rahu is said to mature, which is 42, or at the maturation age of Ketu which is 48. Naturally the Vimsottari dasa periods of either node will intensify the experience, and the native may have to experience the trial of fire during such times. Variations on the areas of experience should be studied by noting which houses the Rahu/Ketu axis falls in. For example, if in the 1/7 axis, marriage becomes the arena of karmic trial; if the 4/10 axis, position and career become a central focus; or if the 6/12 axis is emphasized, then hardships, enmity, or disease lead the soul to pursue the spiritual life. There are conditions which are said to break the Kala-Sarpa or Kala-Amrta yoga, and this can be found in the writings of some modern authors. (I don't believe Parasara or authors of other classics discuss this yoga, however). If the lagna is between the Rahu/Ketu axis, then there is cancellation of the yoga. In the opinion of the late B.V. Raman, however, the yoga will be intensified if the lagna is between Ketu and Rahu. Further, if only one planet joins either node, then the yoga is said to be dissolved. If Kala-Amrta forms in a horoscope, two kinds of auspicious yogas are further generated if either of the Moon or Jupiter, or both, conjoins Ketu. The former is called Maha-Shankha yoga, whereas the latter goes by the name Maha-Padma yoga. These formations confer blessings on the native in addition to the effects of Raja-yoga to fructify in the 44th and 45th years of life respectively. In your chart, the Moon joins Ketu, yet the Kala-Sarpa yoga forms instead, with all the planets moving toward Rahu. So, I am not sure if the Maha-Shankha yoga forms in this case. At least it may be said that the presence of the Moon with Ketu will nullify the expected evil of the KSY. There are many examples wherein KSY elevates the native to very high levels of achievement, fame, and success. These will be found in charts wherein (1) the yoga falls in a kendra axis (1/7 or 5/10); and (2) where there is a Raja-yoga forming in a kendra between the axis. The best example of this that comes to mind is the late Johnny Carson, one of the greatest entertainers of all time: Johnny Carson Natal Chart October 23, 1925 Time: 7:15:00 Time Zone: 6:00:00 (West of GMT) Place: 94 W 44' 26", 40 N 59' 24" Corning, Iowa, USAThis chart is powerful in that the Kala-Amrta yoga forms between the 10th and 4th houses, with the lagna falling within the axis. According to B.V. Raman above, this breaks the evil effects of the yoga. Now, given the presence of a strong Raja and Neecha-bhanga Raja-yoga forming in the lagna, it appears that the KA yoga was instrumental in lifting the native to unimaginable heights of fame which would not likely be attained had the Kala-Amrta yoga not formed, or if it were not involved. Where the results fall in the area of TV and broadcasting can be found by way of the AMK Jupiter joining 10th lord Moon to form Raja-yoga also in the 3rd house of the chart, and directly in the Arudha lagna. Further example charts could help our understanding of how these yogas play out in actual experience. I hope this helps!
