Guest guest
Dear Jyotishis, Conjunction is considered to be an aspect in western astrological terminology. When jyotish drishtis are referred to in english, they are also called aspects. Is yugma, or yuti of two planets (loosely also conjunction) included in drishti, in a classical sense? What do knowledgeable jyotishis say? Dhanyavaad, Rohiniranjan
Guest guest
Conjunction, in my uneducated opinion, is a broader envelop than drishti. It necessarily needs to work for both planets too, I think. Mars could be aspecting a planet 8th from it but the two can't be said to be in conjunction. When in a quadrant from each other, it's conjunction. Rahu and Jupiter in trines is a conjunction too, if hardly helpful. +++ vedic astrology, "rohiniranjan" <rrgb@s...> wrote: > > Dear Jyotishis, > > Conjunction is considered to be an aspect in western astrological > terminology. > > When jyotish drishtis are referred to in english, they are also called > aspects. > > Is yugma, or yuti of two planets (loosely also conjunction) included in > drishti, in a classical sense? > > What do knowledgeable jyotishis say? > > Dhanyavaad, > > Rohiniranjan
Guest guest
Vernalagnia ji, That would be a rather permissive interpretation of conjunction, if you would allow me to say so. As I understand, 'conjunction' means a tighter and specific union of two planets or a planet and a cusp/mid point. Western 'aspects' generally tend to be of narrower orbs than what some jyotishis utilize. kendra sambandha does not fall under conjunction unless it is in the same house (1 is a kendra too). My point behind the polling was to ellicit responses if anyone has noticed in any classics (now let us not start a debate on what is classic or what not, let us say anything earlier than 17th century) that drishti has included being in the same degree or house or sign (loose conjunction). Personally I have only seen planetary drishti to include 7th house aspect and special ones such as 4/8, 5/9, 3/10 for mars, jupiter and saturn respectively. Nowhere have I seen conjunction or presence in same sign as being described as a drishti in jyotish texts. I am seeking confirmation to that or if you have seen otherwise, references to other views. From a jyotish perspective, of course! RR vedic astrology, "vernalagnia" <vernalagnia> wrote: > > Conjunction, in my uneducated opinion, is a broader envelop than > drishti.
