Guest guest
Photocopies should be used only of those books which have gone out of print and only after careful consideration of the copyright act. I fully agree to Sri Swee on that matter. My idea is to start a website perhaps called "International Library of Hindu Astrology" and it should contain copies of all out of print and in print books. Furthermore, all research papers and journals be available in print and media form. This library can have governing members inclusive of those willing to share all that there is with them. It should have a democratic foundation - with eminent astrologers and gurus heading the governing council. The main task should be to disseminate the knowledge and preserve all researches. It is not a new idea. I believe such a library existed in the Universities, like Nalanda, before they were destroyed. Furthermore, such libraries exist with every subject of science. This can only take shape if all astrologers agree on the same. This will really help in promotion of Hindu Astrology all over the world plus give all budding students a reason to be happy. Just a small elaboration on the thought. Sri Swee: I called up the numbers of Sree Sai Tirumala Printers and they said that they will pass on this message to Sri Rangacharya. They have taken my number and hopefully will call back. I thank you for sharing this information. Knowledge always increases on sharing. With this thought I request all to share their views. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Bharat, Namaste As far as I know Sri Rangacharya has passed on his knowledge to only one student of his. Gauranga Das and I were to hoping to take direct instructions from him but at that time, he was recovering from an operation. I believe he is currently residing in Chennai. Guest guest
DEAR MR. BHARAT, THE IDEA OF LIBERARY IS GREAT. SWAMI VEVEKANAND REALISED IN HIS LATE YEARS THAT IF HE WAS ABLE TO CREAT ANOTHER VEVEKANAND THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN DOING WHAT HE DID IN HIS LIFE. PEOPLE OF OLD THINKING DO NOT SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND IT DIES WITH THEM. MOREOVER OLD WRITINGS AND BOOKS DO NOT COME UNDER COPYRIGHTS. ORIGNAL TEXT IN SANSKRIT OR TAMIL WITH THEIR LITERAL MEANING DO NOT COME UNDER ANY COPYRIGHT. ONLY TRANSLATION WITH OWN EXPLATION AND REMARKS COME UNDER COPYRIGHT. SOME TIMES TRANSLATORS HAVE PLAYED HAVOC WITH THE ORIGNAL TEXTS. WHAT A SAD POSITION IS THIS THAT PEOPLE CONNECTED WITH RELIGIOUS TRUSTS ARE MOVIG IN MERCEDEES AND RUNNING COLLAGES AND EVEN UNIVERSITIES DO NOT COME FORWARD TO MAINTAIN A EBOOKS LIBERARY AND YET THEY CALL THEMSELVES SAINTS AND SOCIAL WORKER. I COULD NOT FIND HINDI OR SANSKRIT CLASSICAL BOOKS ON WEB. IF YOU DO ANYTHING IN THIS DIRECTION IT WILL BE GREAT SERVICE TO OUR NATION. Guest guest
Dear Bharat, It is a good idea!! Yes. "We can make make copies of those books which have gone out of print and only after careful consideration of the copyright act". Or we can make carefull collection of articles by eminent personalities and make them available (in book form) on our site! I have created a copy of the old classic Krishneeyam with the famous Chathura-sundari vyakhya (an old astrology classic originated in kerala) in Devanagari script, and is willing to share it to all. There might be many with such assets, or willing to undertake such efforts just for the sake of astrology. I am willing to do my share of work if any body is willing to start such a site. With warm regards Sreenadh
Guest guest
That is a very noble thought. Why should you wait for somebody to start a website for it. It can be kept in the archives of Krushna's Ashtakavarga website for everyone to share. Similarly Others can upload their valuable books to start a library after writing to the concerned authors/publishers for specific permission in the interest of safeguarding the knowledge for use by posterity.
