Guest guest
Adarniya Suryaji, Namaskar! It is immaterial for those exalted souls, and I am sure there must be many, who have transcended all the bondages of Desha and Kala (Time and Space!) and are permanently fixed in the meditation of His Lotus Feet (again, I am sure He has many! since the Gita says "Sarvatah Pani padam tat sarvato akshi shiromukham---He has hands and feet on every side, eyes, heads and faces on every side equally!)), as to when they celebrate Dipavali or Janmashtami, if they (exalted souls) celebrate them at all! HinduCalednar is a forum for ordinary mortals like me who want to celebrate festivals and muhurtas on correct days. It is a forum for discussing as to what are the correct days/dates/timings of those festivals and muhurtas as per those very shastras that have advised us to ceelbrate festivals. If and when I reach the exalted state, I would still,. for the sake of "Loka Sangraha" -- like to continue to follow those very shastras for deciding their dates and timings, because for me the Gita is very clear "na janyed budhi bedham agyanam karma sanginam, joshayet sarva karmani vidvan yuktah samacharan!". I am sure you know the meaning! Wioth kind regards, Avtar Krishen Kaul - prakki surya HinduCalendar Sunday, September 11, 2005 4:53 PM Re: [HinduCalendar] The aims of HinduCal;endar forum. The place, the time and the method of the selfish worship are not important. Be it any place, be it any time, if you sacrifice the fruit of your work or work without any selfishness for the deserving divine people, that is the real festival. We have to correct our selfishness and not the date of the festival. at the lotus feet of shri datta swami surya jyotirved <jyotirved (AT) sify (DOT) com> wrote: Dear members of HinduCalendar, Namaskar! Dipavali, as per all the shastras, is on October 2, 2005, and not on November 1, 2005, as is advised by Lahiriwalas and all others of that ilk including the Rashtriya Panchanga. Similarly, Janmashtami was actually on July 27/28 and not on August 26/27, 2005, as advised, again, by Lahiriwalas and other Panchagnas of that ilk, including, once again, the Rashtriya Panchanga! Same is the case with all other muhurtas and festivals -- all of them have gone topsy-turvey, thanks to Lahiriwalas and their Rashichakra! This will be celar from the file fes2005 available on this forum. I have discussed all these festivals individually and collectively in the files starting from BVB5/BVB6 and ending with Rashi5. There has also been a lot of correspondence exchanged with the members of this forum and also other non-members. Representations in this regard were made to anybody who soever matters, besides some prominent saints like Pujya Sai Baba, Pujya Jagadgudu Shankarachrya of Kamatkoti, Swami Hari Chaitayaji, Swami Ram Devji, Pujya Kirit Bhaiji, Pujya Ramesh Ojhaji and so on and so forth. All the prominent TV channels like Aaj Tak, NDTV, AAstha etc. etc. and newspapers llike the Hindu, the Hindustan Times, the Times of India etc. were also informed about these anachronisms. All this will be clear from the correspondece available on this forum. All I got till date is an "eloquent silence" from all these quarters! There can be two reasons behind it, either I am absolutely wrong and they do not want to waste their preceious time in informing me about the same or I am absouletly correct and all those recepients do not want to say so since they will then lose their face that all along they have taken a common man for a ride! I am inviting more and more members to join this forum and am glad to see the response. I request them to go through all the files metculously and assiduously and arrive at their own conclusions. as to whether we are really celebrating our festivals on correct days. Since most of the new members are also affiliated to one or the other "Swamiji" or "Guruji" or "Mahatma", I would request them to kindly peruse all the correspondence etc. and then, if they find that my contention is correct, to get in touch with their respective Gurujis etc. so that those Gurujis can issue proper guidelines. Quite a few things will be clear from the file "Raman1" in this regardd. Since the aim of this forum, as is clear from the above information, is to streamline our calendars, I request all the members to kindly desist from uploading any files etc.which are not relevant to the fact as to whether we are celebating our festivals on correct days or not, as otherwise I will have to delete those files, much against my own wishes. It is not that propagation of some particular sect or cult or discoruses by some Swamiji do not have any relevance to our present society, but the fact remains that this forum is geared simply to discuss the issue whether or not we are celebrating our festivals on correct days. I must metnion it here that it pains me to see that no member of this forum is taking an active part in this lively discussion which means they are still at the stage of assessing the situation! But then the question arises as to how long will they go on doing so!
