Guest guest
Dear Members, Compared to watching live the previous dramatic 5 set, 3 hr 22 mins match between Hewitt and Dent, this 59 min 2 set match between two beautiful women seems like a anti-climax. "Sharapova Dismisses Teen Challenger with Ease" (http://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/reports/2005-09- 04/200509041125867359845.html) You can decide for yourself how accurate Srinivas's prediction was. If I am watching this match without any idea or background info about who Mirza is and watching her play for the very first time, then a 6- 2, 6-1 defeat can hardly excite me to find out more about her. Having said that, just a little bit of research (which I did shortly before the game started after reading Srinivas's posts) will impress you about her achievements so far and in time to come : - Only 18 years old. - The first Indian woman to reach the fourth round of a grand slam tournament (US Open 2005). Hopefully, the related Indian sport authorities will do more to promote Indian tennis. Also, may I request those who provide her birth data (or anyone else for that matter) state their source(s) if possible ? Thank you.
