Guest guest
Respected Gurujis, When donation/daanam is recommended as remedy (for ex. donate udad dal for Budha dosha on Wednesday, black mustard seeds on Thursday for Ketu etc), is it mandatory that it should be given to Brahmin. Also, in many places in BHPS, it says, feed "x" number of brahmins according to your capacity. But, my query is instead of giving to a drunkard brahmin, is it not better to give to a poor person ? Pundits, please throw some light on this topic. Thanks, Usha
Guest guest
Dear Usha, It depends upon your karma & karmic debts. Its better for you not to follow BPHS,instead you try any other method which can satisfy you and give faith & happiness to you(innerself). Doing any work without faith is against your consciousness / self / or say your Lagna & moon. This all depends upon your 9th House. Its better you look for all available options of your interest or you need to do what your innerself is saying. As far as BPHS is considered it is like bible for vedic astrology suppoted by various other classics given by sages. Guest guest
Dear Usha, yes it is sad in Parashara to feed "x" brahmins, to give cows or something, but I was neaar Guruji in Serbia when he was giving advice - remedials measures. It is quite impossible to do such things sometimes and he sad to give Bhagavad Gita instead of cows, or to go to monastery and give a lot of food to monchs or priests (to feed them)...so we can coclude that there are various ways to reach a goal and we should find ways for various parts of world...hope this has halped, Bojan OM TAT SATsunilkumar varanasi <skumar_varanasi (AT) (DOT) co.in> wrote: Jai Sai Ram Dear Usha, It depends upon your karma & karmic debts. Its better for you not to follow BPHS,instead you try any other method which can satisfy you and give faith & happiness to you(innerself). Guest guest
Dear Usha, I think here we need to understand that the basic concept in giving food, cloth or anything to priests / monks is, we are reaching God through a person(Brahmin/priest or sanyasi) who is completely devoting his time for God. By supporting him with his basic needs we too can be a part of his Puja's & rituals.Normal people like us cant give that much time for puja & prayer in this materialistic world thats why its one way to reach God. Thats why Veda's completely approved a priest or a monk to go for 'Bhiksha' if he fell short of food for living. Hope you got the point. Guest guest
Dear Usha Aperson does not become a brahmin just by birth alone even though it is one of a criteria, He is a brahmin by his deeds. Once a brahmin starts to drink, he has lost his brahminism unless he has done a praayachitta and has absolved himself of the sins. This is a debatable topic beyond astrological purposes and I don't want to waste the time of all people who will be reading this mail. the main points to be considered while donation is 1. The donor should donate with sincere intentions and not for the sake of donation to get some material benefits. 2. The donation should be to person who is in need and not to some one who is known or rich etc and will utilise the things received appropriately 3. You may give some sambhavana/dakshina to the priest or the brahmin who will conduct the special poojas if required in donation process. 4. Foremostthing is you should feel happy while donating and make sure that the donation serves the purpose for which it is intended.
