Is Runa only related to Pitru?. What I intend to ask is "Is there an effect in the form of a curse or anything if the last rites are not performed for the mother's side of the family". Normally the father/son do the last rites of their lineage (Gothra) and not of the mother's. Will not doing this turn out to be a curse or a karma or a runa for the future generations. Also assuming there is nobody on the maternal side who are able to do this or if there are no male siblings on the maternal side to do the last rites, what would be outcome. With Regards /Akash...
