Dear Akash,

>What is the normal time duration for departed soul to take rebirth?

There is no normal duration for this period. It differs from soul to soul.

When time is ripe, we take re-birth. Some even take re-birth within less

than 9 months from the time of demise.

>And what are the chances that the re-birth would be in the same clan

>of the family?

It depends on attachments. Check out the books of Ian Stevenson.

As this is a decision made not during earthly incarnated life, it is

difficult to predict. But there may be jyotisha principles regarding the

time of demise, however I don't know them.
