Guest guest
Respected Sirs, While going through old messages, I found the following thread. "For determining AtmaKaraka find the advancement of the planet from the beginning of the sign, exception is for Rahu where we measure the advancement from the end of the sign. In this case for Rahu it would be (30-10.5) 19.5 degrees or 19deg:30min making it the highest. " If the degree of Rahu (since it is retro)is calculated from the end of the sign, shouldn't the degrees of all retro planets be calculated from the end of the sign? If this is the case, the AK and Amk of many charts will be different. Isnt it? Scholars please explain. Regards, Jyothi
Guest guest
Since this is a forum for exchange of thoughts, I'll give mine, but you're adviced not to assume its necessary correctness. Except for Rahu and Ketu, other planets normally move directly. Since earth revolves the sun, and the moon the earth, the sun and moon two can never appear retrograde. Other planets, however, revolve the sun; thus, depending on the earth's orbital position, they at times appear to be moving backwards. Rahu and Ketu however, always, progress in the other direction. By 'other direction', I mean that if you stood on the earth's North Pole, you'd see all grahas moving in the direction of the earth's rotation, which is anticlockwise (hoping you're not familiar with only digital watches!), with Rahu and Ketu moving the other way. And since the primary motion of all grahas barring Rahu and Ketu is eastward, the direction of their natural progression on the rasichakra isn't reversed just because they temporarily retrograde. jyothi_lakshmi_b <jyothi_lakshmi_b (AT) (DOT) co.in> wrote: Respected Sirs,If the degree of Rahu (since it is retro)is calculated from the end of the sign, shouldn't the degrees of all retro planets be calculated from the end of the sign?If this is the case, the AK and Amk of many charts will be different.
