Guest guest
Namaste, Geocentric means from the center of the earth. Topocentric means from the surface of the earth. Now anyone who has studied physics knows that the position of chandra vis a vis the fixed nakshatras as viewed from the center of earth and the surface of earth will have parallax effect and the dasha calculations that are based on chandra position as viewed either from center or from surface will be different. I can not imagine the sages wanted to view chandra from the center of earth. So topocentric is the correct way as thts what you will see. Many programs initially had all the calculations from the center point and later added topocentric calculation by correcting for parallax. So yes the dasha period will be adjusted by a few days or weeks. .... Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Learned Friends, It's not needed to go to center of the earth to calculated the Moon position. Some little math can get the co-ordinates and corrections. It's not even needed to be a Maharishi to do that. Guest guest
Since we all reside on the earth's surface at various points, topocentricity looks hard to argue against. But I know you've taken many strides in this realm already (and I'm just a beginner, at best). Would you care to explain a bit more? Thanks a lot. Some references would shut out all doubts. Guest guest
Pardon my impudence, but by what you're saying, there shouldn't be places on earth where a solar or lunar eclipse occur then. At one instant, or during a particular fixed phase, the entire world should experience that eclipse. Is that how it happens? I don't know, quite honestly. sanjayprabhakaran <sanjaychettiar > wrote: Like Sun and moon are exactly conjoined over all parts of the world at the same instant irrespective of the Local time.Warm RegardsSanjay PHari Om Tat SatEnergumen--------Two antennae married. Guest guest
Namaste, The point is all the softwares when they came out had the calculation engines that calculated positions from the center of earth. The way we see the longitudes are from suraface of the earth so they had to later add the paralaax corrections. This is especially sensitive fro chandra as it is used to initiate the dasha sequesnce so its true longitude from the surface needs to be calculated precisely. So if your software calculates geocentric positions it means as it says..geocentric will be from a point at the center of earth and topocentric is from a point on the surface of the earth. Those longitudea will not be exactly same ....
