Guest guest
Dear and Respected Narasimha-Ji, Dear learned friends, Many thanks to Narasimha-Ji for posting a very interesting experience regarding Kundalini. Allow me to share a few further experiences from other sources and some thoughts regarding the mater. In the following are some similar descriptions regarding the phenomenon; The person is walking on a crowded side-walk, all of a sudden he experiences a very sudden and forceful infusion of Praana / life energy, originating from about the middle of his body, rushing up and sideways filling the whole of his body. He feels, envisions the experience as if some sort of white smoke like fluid or gas filling up the whole his body in a split second. At the same time for a short time his vision of the surrounding turns into black and white, e.g. shades of gray (an experience sometimes met by people who do long and intense sadhana). He receives a mild shock due to this experience and returns to normal in a couple of hours, after the effects of the shock subsides. This experience he believes is triggered by a herbal medicine that he was taking, given to him by a Vaidya, to clear the nadis. The experience is so shocking that he dares not continue taking the medicine, even though the instruction was to take it on a continuous basis for 2 weeks. In another case, the experience has been described as; a forcefully pulsating fluid gushing from the tail of the spine up towards the neck area in a straight line trajectory, following a tube like imaginary straight channel the diameter of which changes from about 2-3 centimeters, to as large as 40 centimeters. E.g. when the kundalini activity has started the diameter was small, but in over a couple of years, the diameter has gotten bigger. One case reports; feeling a warm very pleasant feeling fluid, originating again from the middle of the body about the spine, flowing slowly in distinct fine horizontal and curving channels towards various parts of the upper body. Furthermore a case reports a similar activity like the pulsating upward flow, but in this case, it feels more like a wooden stick of 3 cm. Diameter that has been dropped on a concrete floor, hence keeps bouncing quickly for a while (1-2 seconds) before it comes to a stop. The subject feels this activity at his back, e.g. near the spine, and the stick is in perfect long cylindrical shape, as is experienced. This experience brings to mind, some oscillating electronic or wave-like activity in the body, that bounces up and down (or goes up and down) and dies out. Some further thoughts based on my general interest and observations regarding the topic; - The kundalini activity is in some cases controlled, and the nadis open up in small steps, so sudden and overwhelming experiences that shock and even discourage the aspirant is not met. - In other cases, a big surge or activity is encountered all of a sudden and unpredictably, which shocks the aspirant, and generates discomfort and anxiety which may hamper his further evolution. My humble thinking is that, if the spiritual aspirant is following the path advised and safeguarded by a prominent Spiritual Guru, overwhelming experiences are not so likely. Even if such an extreme experience comes by, the Guru is there for further guidance, explanation and remedies to soften and smoothen the process. Overwhelming, spectacular and exciting but at the same time somewhat frightening and difficult to interpret experiences come about oftentimes when the aspirant is trying out things on his own, e.g. from books etc. Best wishes, Sabri.
