Guest guest
Namaste friends, > <Bharat> I request anyone whose Guru or who himself has experienced Kundalini> awakening to write about the experience. Someone I know well claims that he had a Kundalini awakening and gave me an account of it. He does not mind if I share it with others, so that those in doubt have a reference experience to check with. However, he wants to remain private and wants any identifying infomation withheld. I will write of his experience in this mail. * * * > <Dr Pandit> First, it is impossible for awakening to occur and the person not to > know about it. The person whose experience I am going to write about said essentially the same thing. But he added one important point. He had a few experiences in the years before Kundalini awakening, which he mistook for a Kundalini awakening. However, he was not fully sure. But, when what he considers the "real Kundalini awakening" happened, he said he immediately knew for sure what it was. Thus, he says that one may think or suspect that one had a Kundalini awakening without having it in reality. He says several experiences can be mistaken for it. But, when the real awakening happens, he says one will know "for sure" and there is no scope for speculation or doubting! * * * This person is a Hindu man and a devotee of a saattwik form of the Divine Mother. He believes in saattwik worship without any desires. He did not do anything specific to awaken Kundalini. He did not do any yogasanas or bandhas etc. He did not have a guru guiding him in this matter. He did not meditate on any chakras or use any special mantras for awakening. He did not focus on mooladhara or any other chakra and he did not visualize any imagery to induce the awakening (like a serpant rising or light rising etc). He just prayed to the Mother using a stotra (not even a "mantra") and tried to fix his mind on Her. The only special thing he did before the experience was to read Savitru Gayatri mantra 216 times every morning for a few days while maintaining brahmacharya (celibacy), as advised by a well-wisher. When he was praying to the Mother one day, he felt as though small air bubbles were crawling along his spine from the base to the upper back. After that experience continued for several minutes, he felt a huge electric explosion in his base. This gave a split second of ecstasy and he felt as though electricity surged thru his body and filled his entire body. Then he felt very light and felt as if he was released straight upwards with an infinite speed. He felt as if he was propelled up like a rocket or something. Then he felt as if he was part of an electricity and whitish light that filled everywhere. All this happened in a span of a second or a couple of seconds at most, apparently. He said he felt a pleasure and, at the same time, a weird feeling as though he did not exist and he died or something. He said his mind was fully active when all this happened and his mind went through a myriad emotions. Then he suddenly lost that state and became normal and also became very anxious and panicky. He said the experience was so intense that it shook him up. For a couple of days, he did not dare to close his eyes and focus his mind during pooja. It apparently took him a few days to regain his compusure, have his faith in the Mother restored completely and leave things to Her again. He said he experienced many physcial changes in the weeks after the experience. He felt very weak and dizzy for a few weeks. He said he had extreme vaata in his system. He felt for many days as if he was about to float or something. Especially his brain felt extremely weak. He said it felt for a few days as if his brain would just pop up from his body and fly off any moment. He had poor health for a few weeks and and had some recurrences of the experience in less intense form. During the next few weeks, he said he felt as if small air bubbles were crawling along his back in several directions (not just along the spine, but away from it in various directions and from various spots). He had the same sensation in head, neck, stomach, chest etc, but mostly in the back. This would happen all the time, not just when he meditated. His theory was that it was the release of some praana from the subtle body into the gross body. In the weeks before and after the experience, he also felt a lot of warmth in several parts of the body. His theory is that nadis and organs were being cleansed. * * * Please note that the exact experience can depend on the path followed. As they say, "ekam sat vipraa bahudhaa vadanti" (the Truth is one but the learned say it differently). Kundalini can manifest to different people as different deities. So, based on the path followed, the experience can be different. However, as there may be similarities and this experience may be of use to those who are in confusion regarding their own experiences, I wanted to share it with the native's permission. But please don't send mails asking me to share the birthdata. The native is completely against it and I have to protect his privacy. BTW, I don't have any "proof" that what he told me is accurate. I simply took it at its face value. Though I found some astrological signatures in his natal chart as well as dasas and transits when this happened, that is not a proof. Also, please note that there may have been some minor corruptions that crept into my memory with time and hence into my account. I want to conclude this mail with an advice from the person (paraphrased by me): "Have faith in your ishta devata. He/She will give you what you deserve, when you deserve. Submit yourself to ishta devata and pray without any desires or expectations. Regarding Kundalini, don't be obsessed. Leave it to your ishta devata and pray to your ishta devata to come and sit in your heart. Try to reduce negative emotions like anger, jealosy, hatred, cruelty etc and try to keep your heart clean enough for your ishta devata to come and sit. If your ishta devata sits in your heart, He/She can best take care of your Kundalini. Leave the Kundalini management to your ishta devata."
