Hi tarun and Others,

here is an explanation of retrograde planets scientifically as I learnt in school

Remember that. Earth’s orbit is elliptical. Also remember that all planets don’t

move with the fast speed as of earth. So when earth moves in its elliptical

orbit, some planets due to their slow speed or their larger than earth orbits

appear to be retrograde or moving backwards, because earth has moved forward.

Those planets are also moving forward, but since the position in the ellipse

has changed, the conical angle that earth casts on the object changes

e.g. Jupiter is transiting thru Sagittarius (say)

It will take aapx 1 year for it to cross the sign.

Let us assume it has just begun journey in Sagittarius.

Now when earth has moved forward the angle between earth and Jupiter changes

such that it appears as if it were in Scorpio. so we say Jupiter has

retrograded to Scorpio. Now when earth will move further forward the angle will

change again and it will again appear to be in Sagittarius

If you spend some time looking at the solar system and the orbits of planets-it

will be clear. You can refer to any encyclopedia for this matter which has

illustrated diagrams.

Suchitra

Hi,

I know this is absolutely correct scientifically.

But having said that we have to acknowledge the fact

that, when the said planet is only appearing to be in

the preceeding rashi,it effects differently.

For example many who are running Jupiter mahadasa now,

will know that many arears of their lives represented

by the rashi in their chart are kinda stalled.

This is quite a pronounced effect.

If the retrogration is only due to earth's movement

and not real, Can anyone throw some light on why it

effects different astrologically?

I guess the answer willbe clear from the following example.

There is a white ball.First you look at it fromred glass-it appears red. Then you

look at it from blue glass-it appears blue.

In reality the ball is neither red nor blue, but since you are looking from the

glass you feel that effect.Don't forget when we speak of astrology we cannot

forget maya.All this is maya.

Let me make the 'effects' part clearer. Now instead of ball assumeyou are

looking at sun- now if you look at the sun from an ordinary glass you will

damage your eyes. However if you look from Xray film-you will be safe.

I hope I made myself clear.
