Guest guest
I have a few question about Rahu and Ketu: 1) Rahu and Ketu are said to aspect the 5th, 7th and 9th houses from themselves, and sometimes we read they aspect the 2nd house too. If I project these aspects on the 12 houses, 6 or 8 houses are always aspected! If I then add papargala and rasi dristhi, there's a good chance the entire birthchart is afflicted! What is the truth in this matter? 2) Rahu and Ketu can be the lord of Aquarius and Scorpio. When you read general vedic astrology books, you have these pages where you can read a standard interpretation of "Lord of the 1st in the 9th" etc. So if the 1st lord is Rahu rather than Saturn, does one interpret Rahu's position instead? Are there clear examples available that this works? 3) Why would the mean rather than the real nodes be preferable, when everything in the sky reflects our lives (microcosmos vs macrocosmos)? 4) Not about Ketu, but about Upaketu and the host of upagrahas. There are so many of them, yet it is said: "Any houses occupied by them in rasi chart or divisional charts are spoiled by them." Does anyone use these upagrahas in chart interpretation, and are they really useful? Ivar
Guest guest
HareRamaKrishna Dear Ivar Ji, 1) There will always be debate on this. Consider the following: Graha Drishti is akin to desire. Ketu is considered MokshaKaraka, hence there is no desire. In fact, people find where Ketu sits in a natal chart, there is great frustration and possibly a void. The deeper you go investigating it, there will be more questions and possible anxiety because of a lack of answers. It is very unsettling for us humans. So -- Rahu has graha drishti, and Ketu only Rashi Drishti. Jupiter and Rahu have similar Drishti. Where one blesses, the other does not. Rahu's drishti is in reverse (100% aspect). Also -- there are also 75%, 50%, 25% drishti that the Astrologers wrote about. When we use that, it seems that there is an influence of all planets in almost all area, sometimes subtly, sometimes to a greater degree. Also remember -- the Nodes are shadows. Philosophically, where there is a shadow, it means there is light. 2) You must consider both situations. Some use various levels of strengths to judge which is prominent. One can also look at various Dashas to see which of the 2 are more prominent. Examples are int eh older e-mails. 3) Philosophically, the nodes are always retrograde. Hence, the mean nodes should be used. The exception to this could be when there are eclipses (that's when some use "true" Nodes). 4) Gulika and Mandi are the most popularly used Upagrahas. Others may use the remaining ones as well. We must try to understand what exactly their function / role is. For example -- Some people do not use the Bhava Chalit Chart. This does not mean it does not have a purpose. Thank you.
