Dear astrologers,

When a vimsottari dasha or antardasha starts, we can expect things to happen

that correspond to the placement and lordship of that particular planet.

Generally we count houses from the ascendant, and we all have numerous examples

that this works.

Yet sometimes we read that one can also count the houses from the major

dashalord. However, I have not seen many examples of this, and was wondering if

anyone could provide some very clear examples, for example related to the 7th

house resulting in a relationship or marriage.

If I take my own life as an example, I entered a relationship during

Venus-Mercury (see attached chart). Venus is in Aries, and Mercury is placed in

Aquarius. From the ascendant, which is Leo, Mercury's antardasha denotes a

relationship, because it's in the 7th house. But counting from Venus, Mercury

is neither the 7th lord nor placed in the 7th house.

A new relationship (with many ups and downs) started in Sun-Saturn. Sun is in

Pisces, and Saturn in Gemini. Again counting from the dashalord doesn't work

(nor does counting from the AL), whereas counting from the lagna works.

Does anyone have any positive experience with this technique?

Ivar

Dear Ivar,

You did not write complete chart details and the attached chart did

not come in the messgae.

( stopped storing file attachments).

Let me try to give you a slightly different interpretation as I have

seen the technique work.

When you count form Venus to Mercury, you get 11. This is the "Laabha

Sthaana" where the giving and taking is evaluated. It also represents

your hopes and aspirations. Hence, the relationship that has started,

comes with the above.

Also, the natural relationship between Venus and Mercury -- Venus is

akin to the teenager, who can give form, and is also the most refined

in the planetary cabinet.

Mercury is akin to the child who is the most moldable in the planetary

cabinet. It is fresh with initiatives, ideas -- but lacks form. These

two interacting do well, when interacting, if we agree to the above.

Also, Mercury and Venus have Rashi Drishti to each other.

Also note that this Mercury is in Trines to the Arudha Lagna (AL).

However, Venus is 7 Houses away from the AL. People may not perceive

unmarried women to somehow be in sync of who you represent in this

world...

Regarding Sun/Saturn:

Saturn is your 7th House's co-lord. (Also examine Rahu)

I will try with an example...

Saturn is in the 4th from the Sun. Imagine a table with 4 legs. Equate

this to the Kendras (Quadrants). This gives support.

Whether this support is liked (for example, 1 table leg is shorter, or

a differnet colour, or made of different material, etc.) is a

different matter. It also affects your concept of home and comforts

(natural 4th House affairs).

Now with Arudha, Saturn is again in a Trine (gives rise, direction).

Also check your Navamsa.

Overall chart has to be checked, but this is in reference to what was

discussed.

Thank you.

Balal Gopal.
