Guest guest
Pranams, Shri PVR ji and Other Gurus, I have a doubt please clarify. I was reading PVRji’s Vedic Astrology An Intergrated Approach book. “Topic Related to Longevity” pg 155 on Marakas in that you gave an example “Suppose lagna is in Pisces, Mars in Gemini, Mercury is in Cp and Saturn is in Aries. On account of owning the 2nd and 7th house, Mars and Mercury are Marakas. However, as per Dr.B.V.Raman’s “Hindu Predictive Astrology” Ch XVII “Key Planets for each sign” Page 81 “Pisces : Moon and Mars are auspicious. Mars is most powerful. Mars is with the Moon or Jupiter causes Rajayoga. Saturn, Venus, the Sun and Mercury are evil. Mars himself does not kill the person even he is a Maraka”. Kindly enlighten me. Say Lag is Pi, Mars and Mercury in Ge. Saturn in Ar. Would you consider here Ma & Me as marakas? Guest guest
Namaste, For Meena lagna, Parasara said regarding Mars "maarako(a)pi na hantaa". This means that Mars is maaraka for Pisces lagna, but he is not hantaa. As far as I know, maaraka and hantaa both mean killer. I cannot judge the exact intent of Parasara. The only difference I can see is that "maaraka" technically means "one who causes the death to happen" and hantaa means "one who kills". There is more directness in hantaa. But, I am not 100% sure of how to judge this statement in astrological terms. Interpretation of elders is that Mars is a potential killer but usually does not kill unless there are other associations/factors. So Dr Raman may be correct. However, I am not fully convinced and feel that something is amiss here. For now, I suggest following Dr Raman. In the example I gave, Mars is a malefic aspecting the 7th house too. That re-inforces his 2nd ownership and makes him a killer.
