Query bout atma-kara

Dear learned Gurus,

 

My name is Dattaraj K. and I have a small query which I would like

you to clear for me.

I have been learning astrology recently and have charted the

following details so far.

My queries are as follows

1) which is my atma karaka ? (Important for me)

According to brihat parashara I think it is Mercury but brihat

parashara also states that the longitude of Rahu is to be substracted

from 30 now that makes Rahu Strongest. I am really confused here.

 

Here is the quote from Brihat P.

 

"3-8. Atma Karak Defined. Among the Grahas from Sūrya etc. whichever

has traversed maximum number of degrees in a particular Rashi is

called Atma Karak. If the degrees are identical, then the one with

more minutes of arc and, if the minutes are also identical, then the

one with higher seconds of arc, have to be considered. In that case

these three are called Anthya Karak, Madhya Karak and Upakheta. In the

case of Rahu deduct his longitude in that particular Rashi from 30.

The Karakas will have to be decided, as above and, as per further

rules given below. Out of these Karakas, Atma Karak is the most

important and has a prime say on the native, just as the king is the

most famous among the men of his country and is the head of all

affairs and is entitled to arrest and release men."

 

 

 

2) Is Saturn really against me in the Rashi ?

I feel no as it is exalted and combust but it is also retrograde

now which is powerful criteria combustion , exaltation or

retrogation . I ask this because I have been getting lots of health

problems recently and have not been able to go to job because of it.
