Gurus and Learned members can see what his/her intensions and desires to get the answers for the quesions from the following Prashna Chart:- April 18, 2005Time: 18:48:24Time Zone: 5:00:00 (West of GMT)Place: 93 W 20' 59", 44 N 53' 23" USA Honestly, I do not even consider answering such questions based on the above Prashna Chart, but Jup's placement in the Lagna and aspect on the 7th house and also have a Parivartana with the Lagna Lord. The placement of Jup had made me to write this note, as this note may be a little help to the native, who may decide whether to pursue Jyotish studies. You have asked very good questions, but I would suggest you to cosult an Astrologer and get an answer whether you have the Yoga's present in your birth chart to learn Jyotish in this life, otherwise I would say do not waste your time and resources. Smile. Let me give an example: As I remember, about 20 years ago, when I use to live in New Delhi. I went to a theater along with my 7 friends, to watch a series of Movies by "Bruce Lee". I am a good fan of Bruce Lee. And as usual, we were all inspired by the movies of martial arts techiques. My friends were thinking of joining in Karate School, I said, I am not interested in taking up the 4 years program but I may be interested to take up one year to see whether I am good for that or not. The rest of my frinds ( 7 of them) joined in the Karate Classes, by paying a full amount to finish the course in 4 years ( upfront deposit,with conditional refund). After a month 2 dropped, after few months 2 more and 2 more after 1 year and finally only one of my friend finished the Black belt programme. What it is telling us is that, we are all not destined to learn everything. At that time, I do not think, we have enquired whether the person who was teaching the Karate has M.S, PhD or 10+2 etc in Karate or otherwise. It is a belief in the traditional learning go and do it. Similarly, talk to some of your known astrologers ( check whether they have PhD, M.S, or such qualifications, may be interest for you) find out whether you have some good Yoga's to Learn Jyotish before even venturing it. I myself have a M.S from one of the top 10 American Universities and have been learning Jyotish for the past 2 years. I belive ( I may be wrong), I do not think, I need or any one need M.S to learn and teach Jyotish. But if some one with English and Sanskrit background, then it is easy to communicate in the public forums like this. Ofcourse, one has to have good keyborad / typing skills as well, otherwise they write one or two sentenses and it is difficult for people like me to follow what they are really thinking about the astrological reasons in their analysis is it not ? Pardon me if I am being too forward. However, I would like to mention a highly relevant comment my chosen Guru-ji has made in answer to the question about whether it is worthwhile to try to learn astrology for those who may not have manifest talent or may have limited talent in learning astrology. He clearly stated that there indeed are persons who are born in life with the inherent talent of understanding astrological knowledge and gift of intuition. There are such persons who may not know anything about astrology for their entire lives but as soon as are introduced to the subject, quickly absorb and master the subject in as few as 6 months. This, as he right said, can be ascribed to their learning and expertise drawn in from their past several lives. Such karmik imprints are evident. But what is to be done by those who are much less talented or 'inclined' to such forms of knowledge? Should it be considered a waste of time and resources for them to at all try to study such a subject? He answered this emphatically as "no", those who are seeking encouragement should and must be encouraged to learn this godly science. May be in another ten lives, incrementally, such a person masters this subject and uses this as a spiritual tool for his understanding of fate (i.e. karma) and spirit (i.e. our true and eternal existence). The function of a true Charabhratrukaraka (BK) is to aid and encourage him just like this. Jyotisha is a very high form of spiritual knowledge and not to be confused with utilitarian studies like commerce and karate. Infact, Guru Sanjay-ji and Guru Narasimha-ji and other guru's of Achyuta Gurukula have expressly stated that their main aim is to spread the knowledge irrespective of caste creed and talent. It shouldn't be limiled to an elite few (read "talented few"). My need to learn jyotisha is along the same lines of integrating it with my spiritual understanding. I am also awaiting blessings of my chosen jyotisha guru to provide me with enlightenment and thrust in my studies, and I regard such a blessing extremely necessary and indispensable. I have been thinking about taking the course formally and hopefully also find a guru, so before that as you advise would you be kind enough to see if I do have the necessary yoga's or capabilities to take it up.
