Guest guest
Thanks for confirming that Rudram/Chamakam will alleviate some of the pains going during Saturns testing period. Rudram, itself is a very big narration almost takes 15 to 20 min. As per my knowledge I have seen, that even if the following is repeated 11 or 40 times in a day it will take care of lot of things.. Guest guest
Dear Anand, Swee and list To my knowledge, Sri Rudram/Chamakam is usually best chanted in the mornings and completed before noon. Even Ati Rudra yagnas conducted, follow this practice. However, chanting Rudram/Chamakam is very effective during pradosham. But chanting it even once is better than not chanting at all. The benefits of chanting Rudram and Chamakam are several and is one of the most powerful remedies not only for kantaka shani/sade sati but for a variety of problems. Every word is Sri Rudram and Chamakam is "pregnant" with such power that chanting it with total concentration "delivers" results. Partha is absolutely right about Sri Rudram-Chamakam as a remedy for kantaka Sani and Sade Sati. However, as vedic adepts advise, Sri Rudram and Chamakam are not to be read-off a book. It is better to learn it properly under a vedic scholar and receive the knowledge properly in the traditional manner. There are several do's and don'ts in chanting Sri Rudram-Chamakam and violating them is not advisable. Shanti mantras are also very important and should not be ignored. I should confess that I have not yet found scriptural support that confirms, chanting the 3rd anuvaka of Chamakam "alone" helps. Perhaps, someone can throw more light. Swee, do you have Narasimha Stuti in soft copy? If so, can I request you to send me the same by email. Thanks. I hope this helps. I will try to write more on this, later. Best wishes R. Guest guest
[ However, as vedic adepts advise, Sri Rudram and Chamakam are not to be read-off a book. It is better to learn it properly under a vedic scholar and receive the knowledge properly in the traditional manner. There are several do's and don'ts in chanting Sri Rudram-Chamakam and violating them is not advisable. Shanti mantras are also very important and should not be ignored.] The above can become a real 'obstacle' for general people who wants to recite Rudram Chamakam. can some body ask to a Pandit to recite the same for him in his house as a remedy? Guest guest
Dear Kasturi Noted your points. Infact if you remember i am one of those who is against giving mantras openly. I think there shouldnot be a bar on the "3rd Anuvaka" of Rudram and general prasiddha mantras. Learning mantra shastra from vedic scholars is one thing, and purity of heart is another thing. People undergoing the bane of sade-sati need solace and dont have the mental aptitude to learn things. Thus if someone comes to me during tortuous period, i will simply ask him to chant the mantra with clean heart and offer shanti in the end. Ofcourse this is only my opinion based on my experiences. The guy whom i was talking about didnot learn it from any vedic scholar and has been reading chamakam since two years. I gave him the gist of the mantra and told him that it is the only way to get out of janma shani, best wishes partha On 4/14/05, Utpal Pathak <vedic_pathak wrote: > Dear Kasturi, Partha garu & others, > > [ However, as vedic adepts advise, Sri Rudram and Chamakam are not to be > read-off a book. Guest guest
Dear Partha Namaste. You are right. True, clean heart is required. There is a saying "Man weighs the deeds; God weighs the intentions". But then, one who is undergoing kantaka Sani or Sade Sati will be desperate for remedies that will work. I agree with your viewpoint on prasiddha mantras. As regards Sri Rudram-Chamakam, I have only shared what I have learnt from vedic scholars, purohits including senior pundits from the Sankara Mutt. The patashalas are very strict about it. Ofcourse, if someone wants to learn it from a CD or book, it is his choice! I should mention that intonation and delivery is important and it is advisable to learn it correctly even to recite it properly to achieve the best results. I have found from numerous cases of kantaka Shani, that the parampara's recommendation of mantras (see archives a few years ago) works so well that the person will not even "feel" the effect of kantaka Shani, depending on placement of transit saturn from Lagna, Moon or AL. I agree with Sri TV Rao. To have Rudrabishekam done at temples is an excellent simple alternative. I have found it also to be an excellent remedy best suited for people who cannot chant mantras. I have also seen Kerala astrologers prescribe another remedial measure for Kantaka Shani/Sade sati. To worship and/or offer a pushpanjali/archana to Hanuman, Dharmasastha (Sri Ayyappan) or Saturn on Saturdays. Go with what one can do! On the economic front, "yatha-sakthi" (whatever is affordable by the native) is to be followed. Best wishes R. Kasthuri Rangan Partha Sarathy wrote: Dear Kasturi Noted your points. I gave him the gist of the mantra and told him that it is the only way to get out of janma shani, best wishes partha On 4/14/05, Utpal Pathak <vedic_pathak > wrote: Dear Kasturi, Partha garu & others, [ However, as vedic adepts advise, Sri Rudram and Chamakam are not to be read-off a book. Sade sati is considered to be quite a dreaded period, as Saturn removes the armour of a person and allows him to face the world head on. Only those who do hardwork succeed during such periods. It cannot be overempahsised that mantras alleiviate pain ! to a great extent during such a phase. I have found Rudram working very well during Sade sati. Many of the people who come to me are invariably in their sade sati or kantaka sani. One person who is still running Janma sani has got extraoridnary breaks in his life during the last one year. All during Sade sati. I recommended Rudram Chamakam two years back. Nothing comes overnight, and after his persistent prayers for 6 months, he got a good break on April 21st 2004. The date was predicted using dasas. His case study is there on my website. But i wanted to emphasise the role of Rudram-Chamakam. Anyone going through the same can chant the same 11 times every morning. best wishes partha http://partvinu.tripod.com/id13.html Group info: vedic astrology/info.html To UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology- || Om Tat Sat || Sarvam Sri Krishnaarpanamastu ||-- V.Partha Sarathy, partvinu.blogspot.com All that we are is the result of what we have thought. Guest guest
Dear Utpal Namaskar. I hope you remember our meeting at Mumbai. I hope all is well. And, your posts to the list are growing to be very impressive. On having a purohit chant Ekadasa Rudram japam (Sri Rudram 11 avarthis, with an anuvaka of Chamakam to follow every anuvaka of Sri Rudram) done at home, yes, it can be done. Due to the strain that an Ekadasa rudra japam chanting can bestow on the purohit, generally, 4 or 6 purohits are engaged. For the affluent, ideally, 12 is a good number. It is called Lahunyasam. Proper sankalpa should be taken. After the usual Nyasas, 11 avarthis of Sri Rudram, with an anuvaka of Chamakam will be chanted at the end of every anuvaka of Sri Rudram, followed by Purusha suktham. Srisuktham, Durgasuktham, etc may also be chanted provided time is available. These are not compulsory. If Shiva linga is available at home, abisheka may be done with 11 dravyams (will be guided by the purohit). And, a dakshina and a feast should be offered to the purohits. The effects will be felt very quickly. Ekadasa Rudra japam done on janma nakshatra day will be the best. Let me also share with you something about Rudra Ekadasi which is another elaborate ritual invoking the 12 swaroopams of Lord Shiva given under: Mahadevan Sivan Rudran Sankaran Neelalohitan Isaanan Vijayan Bheeman Devadevan Bavotbavan Adityatmaka Srirudran Saambha Parameswaran In other words, these 12 swaroopams, I am told, are nothing but the jyotirlingas, technically. Only the names are different. HINT:: So, the hint I got here is that it is perfectly correct to think that worshipping the jyotirlingas will also be a simple remedy. Rudra Ekadasi comprises of Mahaanyasam and chanting of Sri Rudra Trishati which consists of 300 namavalis (or names). In Rudra Ekadasi, 12 brahmin priests will have to be engaged and first the 11 avarthi japam will have to be done followed by abishekam with 11 dravyams. Then the same 12 brahmin priests will conduct a rudra homam (havan) followed by what is called vasodara which is to be done using 336 dravyams as per scriptures. This is not a simple task. Rudra Ekadasi is a very detailed ritual which maylast 4-5 hours and can be expensive. Rudra Ekasdasi is very powerful and is supposed to clear away all doshams and past sins. A much simpler alternative is to offer Rudrabishekam at a local Shiva temple. I have only shared with you what I have learnt. But now, one has options available if Lord Shiva is to be propitiated. Best wishes R. Kasthuri Rangan Utpal Pathak wrote: Dear Kasturi, Partha garu & others, [ However, as vedic adepts advise, Sri Rudram and Chamakam are not to be read-off a book. Guest guest
Namaste, I have been listening to Rudram Chamakam for the last 3-4 mnths from a CD and going for pradosh to the temple. I can pronounce properly over 90% of it. Due time constraint, I do not have time to go to a guru. I still have found lot of positive effects after chanting rudram chamkam. I have made Lord Shiva as my guru and pray to him to teach me the right way. I am sure God will listen if you do it with pure intentions... regards, Ketan vedic astrology, Partha Sarathy <partvinu@g...> wrote: > Dear Kasturi > > Noted your points. I had sent you an email around a month back thanking you for getting us books on Sri Shankaracharya. I am sure you have missed it. I had gone thro' all the three books and first time came to know about spritual life, Selection and life mission of Present Shankarcharya's. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you for your paper and your explanation of 'Mind's tilting' towards Sprituality / Materialism with a Grphical model of your own. remembering you fondly.
