Dear Prabodh,

Having accused Parthaji of parent-state and child-state --

bringing in transactional analysis concepts -- you seem to

be stuck in mule-state as well. Learned members have agreed

to disagree with you, and you must learn enough tact to

respectfully disagree with others.... PVR does this

wonderfully in his discussions w/ KN Rao and others...

You are starting to sound like a broken record player.

I'd very much appreciate if you can you please go back to

posting your wonderful analysis on charts and sharing your

astrological knowledge for the benefit of this forum, and

spare us your hair-splitting definitions of sadhana. I am

sure you understand...

Dear HariThanks for sharing your thoughts. The thread started when i said that

sadhana is required to understand rahu as AK , which logically extend to the

fact that sadhana is required to understand the subtle concepts of

astrology.Now Shri Prabodh says that it is not necessary. I agreed to it. But

he also talks of medieval brahminisim, parampara, exclusivity etc.What was

originally given as an opinion has been turned to a big war of words. i am

really at loss to understand how two different things can be said on the same

issue.This is all the more surprising as he admits that he does pooja etc for

the overall bettrement in Jyotish learning(these is exactly his statement), but

denies the role of sadhana in understanding the specific aspects.Now what does

he mean by "overall betterment in jyotish?"He says that he did Saraswati puja

before starting classes, but denies its utility in understanding maths. I am

again at loss to understand what does this exactly mean.This could mean that

people do pooja, read mantras, but can deny the role of mantras/sadhanan in

understanding the subjects?? Then why the heck do the poojas, mantras, simply

start the learning without giving any respect to any diety, and start learning.

Why this double standards? Every literate person can read books of Shri Sanjay

rath, but to understand the layer of meanings in some important aspects of

Jyotish, i wonder how many can without any sadhana, without any guru

someone, to the . I am very impressed with the contents

and presentation. Your document has brought me to this group today.

Dr. Raman daily recited

the Aditya Hridayam Stotra, Navagraha

Stotra and Vishnusahasranam apart from the usual Sandhyavandhanam and

Gayatri

Mantra. The same set of mantras is being repeated by revered father,

Niranjan

Babu and me. Our family deity is Lord Venkateshwara and we worship him.

We also

have a special attraction (Ishta Devata) to Lord Nanjundeswara.

A note on mantras should

not be out of place here.

It is very much essential

to do Japam regularly. Sri Sanjay

Rath has rightly said that mantra opens the mind for right learning.

Mantras

are sacred compositions derived from the Vedas and have special powers

in them.

The arrangement of syllables in a characteristic pattern gives rise to

a

particular set of vibrations which directly have an influence on the

human mind

and soul. Repeated chanting of a particular mantra results in Japam.

When the

mantra is repeated several times, there is a multiplicity effect. It is

similar

to a particle accelerator, where the particle revolves many times. At

every

revolution its energy increases comparatively and there gives enormous

amounts of

energy.

It is a known fact that

repeated chanting of the Gayatri

mantra helps in building will power, personal confidence and

motivation. So

also the Shiva Panchakshari (Om Namaha Shivaya) which helps to calm the

mind.

Mantras tune the soul and

acts as a protective ‘kavacha”

(shield/armor) around the human body, effectively blocking harmful

radiations.

In case of planetary

afflictions, one can recite special mantras

to ward of evil effects of planets. The best mantra for all afflictions

is Maha

Mrithyunjaya Mantra.

Teevrajwaraabhichaaraadhishanthidham

havanam matam |

Mrityunjayaakhyamantrena

naiva kevalmaayusham

||

means that Mrityunjaya

Mantra gives relief to all small and baneful

influences of evil spirits and even conquers death.

Apart from these, one

could undertake recitation of special

mantras for a period of 48 days to ward of evil afflictions with

reference to a

particular planet. For eg., if Saturn is badly afflicted in a

horoscope, the

native is suggested to worship Lord Shiva and chant Shani kavacha. If

in a

horoscope, Mars is evil, one can resort to the worship of Lord

Subrahmanya and

chant Mars kavacha. The chanting should commence on an auspicious date

and

should go be completed without any interruption.

Making Japa a part of

daily activity not only helps in

cleansing the human body internally, but will also enable him to make

the right

decisions. Chanting the Panchakshari (Om Namaha Shivaya) or

Dwadashakshari (Om

Namo Bhawathe Vasudevaya) daily for about 108 times helps in learning

Jyothisha, performing acts in Dharmic way, comfortable living and also

raises the

soul to higher levels.

No I am not

biased in

this at all. All I am saying is that Partha is technically correct as

you were

also correct. By saying in the lists that Sadhana is not necessary, you

are

sending a wrong message to the average person. You will recall you were

not

talking at Varahamihira list. This is a public forum and 50% out there

are only

haning around for showing charts. So remember that what you say here

will be taken

at face value.

I know that

what you

said was right in one sense.But you will notice that people who do the

Guru

mantra learn Jyotish better and faster than those who do not do it.

Then there

is the blessing of the Guru itself in the form of the mantra that opens

the

bddhi to better learning due to the mantra ans that is the sadhana.

Without the

mantra

sadhana Jyotisha cannot be mastered. Dr Raman worshipped Tripurasundari

or

Rajarajeshwari for his parampara vidya as I worship Jagannatha. The

Brihaspati

gayatri is the sadhana of the best Jyotisha. So sadhana even in the

sense you

meant for sadhana is actually necessary for being the best and for

mastering

this knowledge. And for your information K N Rao listens to Vishnu

Sahasranama

everyday as our PVR worships Satya Narayana in every full moon.

Without

mantra the para vidya learning cannot come, and Jyotish is a Vedanga.

I thought I

read

someone saying Jyotish is not Para vidya and that Upanishad is Para vidya! What

is going on ot here?? The next

thing

they will be saying is that Vedas are five...yes believe it or not!

Someone is

saying that there are five Vedas! Sometimes I wonder whether all this

is a bad

dream or someting like that.

The

greatest of

Sadhaka practise their mantra in the middle of the night and this

includes the

PROPHET MUHAMMAD, JESUS CHRIST and even NOSTRADAMUS. So you are no

exception.

Actually I knew that you will be

laughing at me! I

am sorry that I got

into this discussions in this fashion.

May be my

RMPY makes me to do

that! But you will see that I never

said that

performing Sadhana for

correct prediction should not be done.

Aap ke sath

raha ke Itana to

maine sikh hi liya hai. Pahale maine jab aap ke Sadhana ke bare me

kaha tha it was on your predictive

ability. It

is under stress

because of your frequent travelling.

You dont get

Time to do your

Sadhana and that is why your

prediction may go

worng. I still say that

you must get more time to perform your

Sadhana(for

more and more

correct prediction and become

undisputed HERO of

Vedic Astrology).

But I still do not understand why

Sadhana of some

kind is required in

learning Jyotish. On the other hand

learning

regularly should be a

Sadhana.I learn from you when I am

with you and

every day I learn from

you(from your books no sadhana

involved!) but what

sort of Sadhana is

required for that. My basic objection

was on to

understand Ak as rahu

you require Sadhana. Yane Jyotisha

nahi huaa koi

Bhuta vidya hui. Sir

dont take me otherwise but there are

more and more

people getting into

this kind of spiritual aspect which is

not required

in my opinion for

learning jyotish.

Now a days with your

blessings,knowledge and

permissions, I am

teaching Jyotisha at SJC Nagpur. We

have now good

collections of 25+

students and almost every body is very

happy to

learn(from me!). We

have people from every walk of life

and most of

them are 40+. I was

just thinking what will they think if

I tell them

that to learn(not

predict) some kind of Sadhana is

required!

I know that Partha is Dhan Lagna which

you like

most! and hence may

find his opinion nearer to your heart!
