Guest guest
i also was thinking, how did the medieval western asrologers come to use the nodal axis placement anyway? as we know, they took everything from the hindus. the house system, zodiac signs, glyphs for the planets and signs, etc are all the same. (from mesopotamia?) western horory as practiced by medieval western astrologers, back when western astrology was predictive-deterministic and not psychoanalysis oriented, is extremely similar to the hindu tajaka yoga prashna, as expoused by nilakantha's prashna tantra. some believe the hindus took that from the persians, others believe the persians actually took it originally from the hindus, as the vedic satya yuga was really the source of higher spritual knowledge, and then the hindus took it back from the persians. anyway, the point is that the western medieval astrologers could not have come up with a concept as profound as the nodal axis just on their own. it must have come from somewhere, from a civilization stemming from the last satya yuga. did the hindus once use it? and/or the chinese, as the nodes are also known in the west as the dragon's head/ tail? and also, the serpent theme could relate to the kundalini shakti, symolically the spiritual evolution from the base to the crown. after all, why the serpent symbolizm? also, recently on this forum there was a flurry of questions and concerns about the kalasarpa yoga. it appears this yoga is not mentioned in the standard texts (parashara, jaimini, etc) so indeed where did it come from? (like sade sati, kuja dosha, where in fact do these come from?) hart defouw believes the kalasarpa yoga is tantric in origin, deriving from ancient tantric texts/lore. the tantras came as an offshoot to the original vedic practices. perhaps the nodal axis is tantric as well, passed on today among the tantric village priest astrologers. again, i plan to find this out, as now you got me curious. anyway, these are just ideas i am throwing around. kalidas
