Guest guest
dear vishwanadham,(and all learned astrologers) --- gauranga das, sjc guru, says (brihaspati.net/faq_2.htm) that one's "favorite" diety is seen in the 5th in the d20. thats the reference. so... 1. if the ishta devata is 12th from ak in navamsha, how do we relate that with the 5th in d20 diety? 2. how on earth can one be drawn to a diety other than one's true ishta devata? this cannot work from a bhakti point of view. 3. concerning my friend with sun in 12th from ak in nav, and venus in 5th in d20, who worships the buddhist tara, what can be said about her ishta devata? that's why i thought the sun could also be the physical guru, for jnana yogis, which her guru also transmits, and which she has a capacity for. your thoughts? kalidasa In vedic astrology, Viswanadham <vishwanatham@g...> wrote: > Namasthe, > > all replies to the group please!! > > can you please give some reference to what you stated in the following? > > regards > viswanadham > > i also have a question for other astrolgers: what then, does the > > > 5th > > > > in d20 mean, as opposed to the above calculation for ishta > > devata? > > > > one's "favorite" diety? if so, what if they are not the same? > > how > > > > then does that work as far as one's bhakti toward the ishta > > devata? > > > > also, can the sun simply mean jnana yoga only, no real actual > > > diety, > > > > only the physical guru's form? > > > > i know someone who worships a female diety, has venus in the 5th > > in > > > > d20, but has sun in the 12th from ak in navamsha. whats her > > > > situation? > > > > > > > > kalidas > > > > > > > On Wed, 02 Feb 2005 07:15:53 -0000, mahakali108 <mahakali108> wrote: > > > > --- > > namaste, > > while you are answering, please share with me possible answers to my > > other questions. > > thank you much, > > kalidas > > > > In vedic astrology, "vishwanatham" > > <vishwanatham@g...> wrote: > > > > > > Hare Rama Krishna > > > > > > Dear SK & Kalidasa, > > > > > > Sun could mean Sri Rama. > > > > > > Even the non-believers in God also have their Karakamsa & ishta > > > devata shown in their charts. Guest guest
Shree Gurubyo Namah: Sri Kalidasa even though you addressed your questions to shri vishwanadham ji, here are my $0.02 cents of thoughts: you should understand the difference between Ishta Devata and Favourite devata. 12th from AK in Navamsa denotes the Moksha for atma and hence the deity related to 12th will guide one towards Moksha which is the ultimate desire of any soul. 5th in D20 indicates the devatha one likes to worship to devolop the spiritual capabilities and progress. They need not be same. However as shri vishwanadham mentioned praying 5th lord of D20 will increase spiritual knowledge there by leading to Ishta indicated by 12th from AK in D9. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Kalidas Coming from Sri Gauranga, i know what it means. i do not know, you read my previous mail about your ishta devata!? If you are looking at the meaning of the word 'Ishta' it is your liking. What you see in the12th from your karakamsa is called as 'Ishta devata'!! Without going into the literal meaning one can contemplate on the real import of it. The sign of AK in the navamsa is Karakamsa and the 12th from it(which is basically loss for AK) represents Ishta devata. Why a devata causes loss to AK, if everything is good with AK. So, AK represents that quality in us which needs to be ironed out to take us closer to the paramatma! There are multitude of forms of God in hinduism. So, a particular form is REQUIRED to rectify a Specific Problem!! Since, this is all about moksha, following Vaishnava smpradaya, one may choose from DasAvataras of Vishnu as given by Parasara or follow Jaimini's prescription, where Sun represents Shiva. For that matter worship of any form of deity will eventually lead to the Ishta devata. It is the faith that matters, above all. There we are, as far as Ishtadevata is concerned! There are many issues in life and there are many forms of deities to choose from for each one of them. You are very fortunate,IF all the areas can be covered by worship of one deity OR it may be possible to do so through sheer faith in one deity. Just to summarise, there is no conflict in worshipping two or more deities. regards viswanadham PS: read about Dharma devata, palanadevi, BK, Kula/Gramadevata etc.,to understand the wider canvas. Also, this can be applied to all the religions in the world and not only to hinduism. vedic astrology, "mahakali108" <mahakali108> wrote: > > > dear vishwanadham,(and all learned astrologers) > --- > gauranga das, sjc guru, says (brihaspati.net/faq_2.htm) that > one's "favorite" diety is seen in the 5th in the d20. thats the > reference. > so... > 1. if the ishta devata is 12th from ak in navamsha, how do we relate > that with the 5th in d20 diety? > 2. how on earth can one be drawn to a diety other than one's true > ishta devata? this cannot work from a bhakti point of view. > 3. concerning my friend with sun in 12th from ak in nav, and venus > in 5th in d20, who worships the buddhist tara, what can be said > about her ishta devata? > that's why i thought the sun could also be the physical guru, for > jnana yogis, which her guru also transmits, and which she has a > capacity for. > > your thoughts? > kalidasa > > > In vedic astrology, Viswanadham <vishwanatham@g...> > wrote: > > Namasthe, > > > > all replies to the group please!! > > > > can you please give some reference to what you stated in the > following? > > > > regards > > viswanadham > > > > i also have a question for other astrolgers: what then, does the > > > > 5th > > > > > in d20 mean, as opposed to the above calculation for ishta > > > devata? > > > > > one's "favorite" diety? if so, what if they are not the same? > > > how > > > > > then does that work as far as one's bhakti toward the ishta > > > devata? > > > > > also, can the sun simply mean jnana yoga only, no real actual > > > > diety, > > > > > only the physical guru's form? > > > > > i know someone who worships a female diety, has venus in the > 5th > > > in > > > > > d20, but has sun in the 12th from ak in navamsha. whats her > > > > > situation? > > > > > > > > > > kalidas > > > > > > > > > > > > On Wed, 02 Feb 2005 07:15:53 -0000, mahakali108 <mahakali108> > wrote: > > > > > > --- > > > namaste, > > > while you are answering, please share with me possible answers > to my > > > other questions. > > > thank you much, > > > kalidas > > > > > > In vedic astrology, "vishwanatham" > > > <vishwanatham@g...> wrote: > > > > > > > > Hare Rama Krishna > > > > > > > > Dear SK & Kalidasa, > > > > > > > > Sun could mean Sri Rama. > > > > > > > > Even the non-believers in God also have their Karakamsa & ishta > > > > devata shown in their charts. Guest guest
Dear Vishwanadham Sir All this confusion arises due to terminology used. Probably Ishta devatha could be called as Moksha devatha so that people will not raise any further questions. Attatchment is such a terrible thing, attatchment to the words! Attatchment to the terms, when the discussion is on how to get over these attatchments, and Which diety shows how to get over attatchments?!! best wishes partha vedic astrology, "vishwanatham" <vishwanatham@g...> wrote: > > Hare Rama Krishna > > Dear Kalidas > > Coming from Sri Gauranga, i know what it means. i do not know, you > read my previous mail about your ishta devata!? > > If you are looking at the meaning of the word 'Ishta' it is your > liking. > > What you see in the12th from your karakamsa is called as 'Ishta > devata'!!
