Guest guest
Hi, Uttara-kalamrita says one of the significations of moon is umbrella and other royal insignia. It also adds "white umbrella" is a signification for venus. Nakshatra logic: Umbrella is the symbol for both Anuradha and Jyeshta nakshatra. The following are my own thoughts (Others can certainly contribute their opinions). Philosophically, Bharani nakshatra stands for protection. If I am not wrong, "Bharan" means maintenance. It stands for the female organ / uterus; where, a foetus is sustained till he/she is ready to come into the world. Similarly, philosophically, "chatri" or umbrella stands for the roof, that protects you in the world. Just wondering if anyone else can see the link between these two protective influences, on either side of the line. --- sanjaychettiar wrote: > > || Om Gurave Namah || > Dear Friends, > For some jyotish fun, I would like to know what you > think is > the kaaraka (signifier/ruler) for Umbrella. Guest guest
Dear Swee, Chowrie means a sort of fan made of fibers tied lengthwise. This was used for persons of authorities like Kings. If you have gone to any Gurudwaaras( Sikh place of worship), you will find the Granthasaheb (Sacred book of Sikhs) being fanned by this device by the devotees. Chandrashekhar. Guest guest
AUM GURUBYO NAMAH Dear Sanjay, Moon is considered to be the significator of Umbrella/chatra.(reference - Uttarakalamritha slokas 25 - 29 in Khanda V). There is a saying "chatra bhanga" associated with sade sathi. This means the umbrella/protection is removed during the period of sade sathi(seven and half year saturn cycle). Moon is considered as the natural amatyakaraka who under the influence of Sani brings out the svabava(natural reaction) of the Atmakaraka during the period of sade sathi.(Sani the vidatha brings out the svabava of the jataka to help ripen the karma. Sani gives the abubava required for growth.) In other words the influence of Moon(is not Mother a natural protector?) is temporarily withdrawn so as to enable the AK to learn to stand on his own legs. It is also a general belief that 1st cycle of sade sathi causes the exit of grandparents, the 2nd cycle of sade sathi causes the exit of parents and the 3rd cycle causes the exit of the jataka himself. This is so because these relationships were considered as umbrellas/protective elements of the jataka. The dasa and antardasa of Amatyakaraka should be watched carefully as it might give indications of the troubles likely to be faced by the employer too. Cowrie refers to sea shells and are used in prasna. It is the prakrathic representatives of yoni indicating the principle of creation. To answer questions like so-what-next they were considered as the best choice as being the products of sea they come under the domain of Mata Lakshmi & Sriman Narayana. We all know that we need the blessings of Mata Lakshmi Sriman Narayana for sustenance related issues. Over and above this we have chatra yoga formed by placements of 7 planets in 7 houses from the 7th house. We have chatra rasi principle mentioned in prasna. Oh! The mail is becoming lengthier. i shall put a stop. i hope this helps. Best wishes. Guest guest
Dear Mr.Vinoo Cowri and Chowrie are 2 different words as we noted from chandrashekhar jis explanation. Cowri - which was defined as conch shell is also called as kawdi. It is infact called as Kawdi than cowrie for Prashna matters in kerala. Thus it can be a corruption as you have said.
