Hi All,

Namaste. I see many posts on marriage possibilities,

and questions on delayed marriage. Just wanted to

share some findings, that a village astrologer gave

me. Apparently, he got this from his "tradition". I

have been using this list in the recent past, and seen

some consistent results.

I applied this to 30 female horoscopes who were denied

marriage. They were born between 1915 AD and 1960 AD.

The following are the factors from the list, that I

found common in all the horoscopes..

Mars is has Drishti on Eight or Eleventh House

Mercury is Lord of Second or Third House.

Alternatively, Mercury is posited with Lord of

Second or Third House.

Venus is Lord of Second or Fourth House.

Alternatively, Venus is posited with Lord of

Second or Fourth House.

Mercury or Lord of Twelth House is in Trikona (First,

Fifth or Ninth House).

Lord of Sixth or Eleventh House is in Panaphara

(Second, Fifth,Eighth or Eleventh House).

Lord of Ninth/Twelth House having Dristi on Third

House.

Lord of Eighth House having Dristi on Eighth/Tenth

House.

Lord of Seventh/Twelfth House having Dristi on Twelth

House.

Jupiter or Lord of Sixth House is in Dusthana (Sixth,

Eighth or Twelth House)

Saturn is Lord of Seventh/Eighth/Ninth/Tenth House.

Alternatively, Saturn is posited with the Lord of

Seventh/Eighth/Ninth/TenthHouse.

Sun and Lord of Fourth House are not in Exaltation

(Uchcha).

If you find five or more Yoga from the above list in

any Horoscope, you can predict that the person is

either denied marriage or marriage will be delayed.

However, while predicting so ensure that Sun and

Lordof 4th house are not in exaltation. If all the

above Yogas are present, the marriage of that person

is highly improbable.

Dear Mudambi and Freinds,

I wrote a brief note on marriage, sometime ago. Here

it is.

Marriage is part of dharma and nature’s requirement.

It is an institution with multidimensional

association. In Jyotish, nearly all the Classics

heavily emphasized on this issue of wed lock and the

matters associated with them.

Ruling Planets

Wife: Venus is the Kalatra-Karak and stands for wife,

sexual relation with women, semen and passion. Apart

from it, the Moon is the secondary ruling planet for

wife in male charts. Women having luminaries and lagna

in even signs prove good and successful wives, as they

possess feminine characteristics. Jupiter placement

has great importance in their charts.

Husband: Jupiter rules Husband in female charts. The

Sun is also seen as secondary indicator of husband,

and his status.

Sexuality: Venus is the indicator of sexual pleasure

in male chart and Mars rules sex-life in female chart.

Marriage: As a dharma, and social duty the

“institution of marriage” and marriage ceremony is

indicated by Jupiter. (It is also indicator of

children). While some astrologers hold that Venus is

the Naisargika Karaka of marriage.

In-Laws: Mercury rules the relations we build.

Therefore it also indicates in-laws in general,

besides acquaintances and neighbors. The 3rd and 10th

houses stand for father and mother in laws

respectively. Some scholars hold nodes as their

significators. 8th and 9th houses (i.e. second and

third from 7th) portray family and coborn of spouse.

Widowhood: The Saturn and Mars show widowhood, death

and separation from spouse. 8th house is primarily

rule over it because 8th house is the second from 7th

and seventh from 2nd house.

Ruling Signs

Libra is the ‘balance’, one-to-one relationship,

spousal relationship and one’s nature how he is

destined to understand partnership. Scorpio shows

sexual relationship, private parts i.e. generative

organs. It reveals ones nature about sexuality.

Ruling Houses

The 7th and 2nd houses are stand for marriage. At

secondary level 12th and 4th houses are also liked

with marriage institution. Where 7th house is of

spouse i.e. wife in male chart and husband in female

chart. 2nd house is of phalam, family in general. The

12th house indicates bed comfort and 4th is of

happiness and home comfort.

Here it is to be noted that why 7th house signify

marriage. Since marriage is a part of Dharma which is

ruled by 9th and 11th is related with Labh, thus 11th

from 9th we found 7th that shows gain from Dharma i.e.

marriage. In a similar fashion 11th from 7th is 5th

house that stands for children-labh of vivah.

On the other hand, Argala is an important influence,

plays an unavoidable role during astrological analysis

of marriage. In general, a house or planet in 2nd, 4th

and 11th from a certain house/planet causes primary

argala, while virodh-argala 12th, 10th and 3rd

obstruct above good/bad influence. Now looking these

houses from 7th, we found, eighth (sexual capacity and

dowry), tenth (profession, business activities) and

fifth (children, recreation and affection). Obviously

these all are either make or mar marriage institution,

provided whether benefic or malefic planets are

associated with them. Argala should also be judge from

Karaka and 7th lord before final conclusion.

The second and seventh houses are also called marak

sthan(house of death), and eighth is ayu sthan(house

of longevity) hence looking these marak and ayu sthans

from all marriage related houses in order to get their

duration and sustenance. For example seventh and

second from 7th, i.e. 8th and 1st become maraka sthan

for partnership. Any affliction to 1st (Langa) and 8th

lead to death of partner, when the related dasa/bhukti

or transit would operate. Similarly eighth from 7th

house (i.e. 2nd) and eighth from Karaka (Ve or Ju)

yield duration of marriage and age of partner.

Third is eighth from 8th house, in general shows

initiation of new venture after end. This sequence is

taken to get the case for marriages taken place after

first. The first marriage is seen from 7th, second

from 9th, third from 11th and so on, as third from 7th

house is 9th then third from 9th is 11th.

2nd house also plays an indirect role in second

marriage. In Navamsha, 2nd house shows secret affairs

other than official marriage. About Venus, it is to be

noted that, 11th house is not so good for her, while

in 12th it is assumed to be very strong. But Venus in

12th of Navamsha is inauspicious.

Related Varga

Navamsha (D-9) is primarily related to marriage, as it

is part of dharma. The position of Venus and Moon (for

male) and Jupiter and Sun (for female) are of great

importance in Navamsha chart. If these karakas and 7th

lord of Rashi are well placed (in own or exalted sing

in D-9) then one is destined to marry with an

educated, beautiful and well-off spouse.

Take the Chara Atma Karaka (AK) in Navamsha chart as

lagna, and observe marriage related houses and karaka.

If Venus/Jupiter and 7th lord of Rashi are well placed

and not fall in malefic houses (6th, 8th, and 12th)

with respect to AK then this signify a successful and

long lasting marriage. Placement of Venus in 6th,

Jupiter in 3rd, the Moon in 8th and the Sun in 12th

are inauspicious, as they are their maran karaka

sthanas. Note the sign of karaka in Navamsha chart and

see where the noted sign falls in Rashi chart. If this

sign rises as maran karaka sthan of Karaka then it

weakens the karaka severely. For example, if in

Navamsha Venus falls into Gemini. But if Gemini is the

6th house from lagna in Rashi then this would feeble

the Venus, despite here she is into friendly sign of

Mercury in Navamsha.

Udu Langa

Udu Pada (UL) i.e. arudha of 12th house is

particularly discussed by Parasar and Jaimini in the

context of marriage and marital happiness. The second

from UL indicates phalam or fruits therefore must be

studied in both in Rashi (D-1) and Navamsha (D-9) in

order to find the outcome of marriage.

 If UL falls into benefic sign in association

with benefic planets then one enjoys all happiness

regarding marital life, including; faithful wife,

obedient children, and domestic harmony.

 If second form UL has well placed benefic

planets without any affliction then spouse will be

beautiful and belongs to a respectable family.

 If second from UL has any exalted planet then

one commands over many women and this situation

promises longevity of spouse, provided other factors

also there. Similar result is indicated when UL or its

second lord falls in own sign.

 If malefic planets are associated with second

form UL then this result in sickness of spouse when

the dasa/bhukti of rashi or graha activates.

 If UL lord conjoins with malefic or malefic

planets are with UL then one lives without spouse or

may become ascetic.

Vivah Saham

Vivah Saham is amongst important Arabian parts, a

significant cosmic point in chart that stands for

marriage but at secondary level.

The formula for Vivaha Saham:

Vivah Saham = (Venus Long)-(Saturn Long)+(Ascendant

Long)

here if third parameter i.e. Ascendant's longitude

does not fall between Venus and Saturn's longitude

then add 30 degrees, otherwise dont. For nigth births

take, Vivah Saham = Sat-Ven+Asc. While for parshan

charts, sometimes, Vivah Saham(marriage part) is taken

differently.

Vivha Saham for Parshan = (7th house)-(7th

lord)+(Ascendant)

Example:

Let's suppose a "day time natal chart". Venus is at

17Li48 (=197*48'), Saturn is at 18Le55(=138*55') and

Ascendant is at 8Aq55 (=308*55').

Vivah Saham = 197*48' - 138*55' + 308*55' = 367*48'

since here third parameter Ascendant is not fallen

between Venus and Saturn therefore ADD 30* to above,

we get Vivaha Saham = 367*48' + 30* = 397*48'. As this

value crossed 360* so minus it from above, as

397*48'-360* = 37*48' That is 7 degrees and 48 minutes

of Taurus, or say Vivaha Saham = 7 Ta 48.

Interpretation of Vivaha Saham:

The Saham (also called Arabian parts) are like

significant cosmic points in chart, obtained with the

help of adding and subtraction of grahas' longitude.

Treat them like special ascendants. They are

specifically computed for annual solar return chart

(Tajik Varsh parvesh). If they fall into trik

bhav(6th, 8th and 12th), they assumed to be weak. Any

aspect of benefic planet on it strengthen their

status, whereas malefic's aspect afflict them.

Transits of benefic planets over them lead to gain

with respect to related matters.

For the case computed earlier, (Vivah Saham = 7 Ta 48)

we can infer.

a) Vivaha saham falls (here) in Taurus lorded by

Venus. Thus dasa and bhukt of Venus (and related

nakshatra lord Sun) lead to marriage, provided the

native's age and circumstances permit.

b) Check when the Vivah Saham lord (here Venus) will

conjoin either with Lagna (here Aquarius) and

Lagnesh(here Saturn). The very time gives happiness

regarding marriage.

c) Note the transit of Jupiter over Saham (here

Taurus) or its trine signs, the time of that transit

will favour marriage possibilities.

d) Transit of natural malefics Saturn and Rahu over

Saham result in delay, losses and troubles.

e) Find, when in the annual solar return chart,

"Mantha" falls into vivha saham sign "Taurus", (or say

simply when SuDarshan Dasa of House having Taurus will

commence). That year will also prove favourable

regarding marriage.

f) Note the yogas in chart, involved either Saham's

lord and its sign of occupation. Good yogas yield

favour and arishtas obstruct.

More than one Marriage

More than one marriage happens only when the yoga of

one marriage are not in the chart or very weak as

compare to the yogas for multiple marriage. Followings

are the important yogas result in only one marriage.

 If either lord of 2nd and 7th be associated

with strongest planet(having exaltation, digbala,

etc), one will have only one marriage.

 If 7th house is benefic sign associated with

strong Jupiter, native won’t go for second marriage.

 Jupiter and 7th lord in the navamsha of Sun

or Mars, gives one marriage.

 If 2nd and 7th lords are in 2nd and 7th

respectively then one will have only one marriage.

 If Sun is in 6th or 12th, similarly the

conjunction of Sun+Moon in lagna leads to one

marriage.

Here’s some important yogas result in more than one

marriage. Results will be more effective when the

planets occupied in bhava Madhya.

 UL or 2nd from it falls into Gemini, may

result in more than one marriage.

 One malefic in 7th and more than one malefic

in 2nd house, when 7th lord is going to be combust or

debilitated.

 7th house falls in malefic sign when 7th lord

is debilitated.

 7th lord in 6th associated with Rahu.

 Malefics in 7th and 7th lord should associate

with a weak benefic.

 Moon in 7th from Venus/Mercury and 8th lord

in 5th.

 Saturn and Rahu in the 7th not

aspected/conjoined by benefics.

 7th lord and Venus both fall in dual

navamsha.

 Venus in Virgo navamsha aspected by malefics.

 Two or more malefic planets in 2nd and not

aspected by 2nd lord.

 Two or more malefic planets in 7th and not

aspected by 7th lord.

There are hundreds of such yogas, not possible to

write all here. But it should be borne in mind that

individual application of these yogas will be wild

guess.

Delayed Marriage

Saturn, Rahu and the Sun are also known as separating

planets. If they are afflicted and influencing the

marriage related house/planets, delay in marriage is

resulted. Delay in marriage may materialized when;

 The lagna, lagna lord, 7th lord and Venus

fall in fixed signs (Ta, Le, Sc, Aq).

 The Moon is waning and aspected by Saturn.

 The Sun is placed in 7th house without any

benefic association.

 Lord of 7th house is retrograde and aspected

by Saturn or Rahu.

 Saturn and Rahu fully aspect 7th or 2nd

house.

 Weak Moon in 5th house and malefic planets

are occupied in 7th and 12th house.

 Venus or 7th lord is combust and aspected by

Saturn or Rahu.

 Venus and the luminaries should place into

barren signs.

 Saturn, Rahu and/or the Sun is placed in

seventh from the Moon or AK.

No Marriage or Unmarried State

The following combinations may cause distinct

possibility of marriage or even no marriage.

 Saturn should aspect both the Venus and

waning Moon and either of them falls in the

constellation of Saturn or Rahu.

 Mercury in 2nd or 4th from lagna or Karaka

cause sanyas.

 Saturn should fully aspect the 7th house and

its afflicted lord.

 Lord of 7th or 2nd is afflicted by Saturn or

Rahu.

 Saturn, Rahu or/and the Sun are placed in 7th

or 2nd without benefic aspect/association.

 UL (upapada) and seconds from it, occupied by

the Saturn or Rahu in rashi/navamsha.

 Upgraha Dhuma or Gulika should afflict 7th

house and Venus leads to no marriage.

 The 7th and 2nd lords are in conjunction with

malefic and Venus is placed in dushtana house.

 Malefics are in lagna, 7th, and 12th houses

when waning Moon is in 5th house.

Timing of Marriage

Before getting probable time of marriage, some

important point must be determined. That is (a) the

chart has possibility of marriage. (b) The age of

marriage according to family custom and social

environment.

First of all, find the broader interval of age of

marriage, i.e. wed-lock at an early age, middle age,

or late in life according to social and religious

circumstances. Here’s some basic rules.

• Sage Parasar says marriage is taken place in the

dasa and antar of un-afflicted 7th or 2nd lord. Also

in the dasa/bhukti of planets associated with 7th and

2nd houses.

• During the dasa/bukhti of planet occupied strongly

in 7th lead to marriage.

• Marriage may take place during dasa/bhukti of

Karakas i.e. either in Venus or Jupiter.

• The dasa/bukhti of sign having UL results in

marriage.

• Marriage may take place during dasa/bhukti of

‘navamsha lord’ of 7th house or 7th lord.

• Marital happiness is obtained during dasa/bukhti of

lord of sign having Sree Lagna or DK in D-1 and D-9.

• Marriage may take place during the year, when sign

contains Karaka, UL or SL, ascends as lagna of annual

solar return chart.

• The transit of Jupiter over 2nd, 7th or 9th probably

leads to marriage (in Rashi and Navamsha as well).

• When Jupiter transit over natal ascendant or 7th

from it, and lagna lord ingresses into 7th house.

• Jupiter in gochar, over Karaka, lord of 7th or vivah

saham gives marriage.

• Jupiter in gochar, when arrives in 2nd from lord of

navamsha occupied by lagna lord.
