Dear Pramond and List members, Namaskaar.

You have asked a good question.

When the rays of the Sun are powerful, it can sometimes overshadow

others… this is the basic philosophy I have understood with

combustion. It need not mean the losing of the planets' entire

strength or role.

To get the exact degrees, these have been given in the Classics and

discussed in the archives. Here is one link:

http://www.brihaspati.net/lesson_41.htm

[i am still exploring the works of Surya Siddhanta where Venus could

be considered combust whilst still in direct motion.]

Now – try to picture this astronomically. Is the birth after Sunset?

i.e. has the native been born at a location at a given time where the

rays of the Sun are less?

Also consider – which planet is it that is combust – i.e. one that has

a closer orbit between the Earth and the Sun? Or one that is beyond

the Earth…?

I hope that some of the above reveals insights in to the planets.

Also consider some of the other planetary strengths as given in

Chapter 27 of BPHS.

Best wishes,

Nitin.

Respected gurujis,

could anyone please throw some light on on combustion of planets by

sun....

Its commonly said when a planet is in certain degree away from the

sun...they get combusted..and lose all their strength....

what about exalted planets getting combusted???Do they lose strength...

It is also said that venus and saturn lose only 50% of the strength

when they are combusted...are they true???

In many horoscopes we see planets which are highly combusted....but

still the planetary strength in their dashas could be

experienced...How is that..?

Please explain the theory of combustion of planets...

Regards

Pramod.
