Guest guest
Namaste friends, There are several new years defined in various parts of India based on New Moon, Full Moon and Solar Ingress. Though the most popular new year charts are the new Moon chart in Pisces, Full Moon chart with Sun in Aries and solar ingress chart into Aries, there are other new years as well. For example, some parts of India where business is strong celebrate new year on Kartika Sukla Pratipada (the day after Diwali/Deepavali). This corresponds to New Moon in Libra, the natural sign of business. In our tradition, we believe that this New year chart throws light on finances and business matters in a country during the year. Gemini is the sign of nature. Sun-Moon conjunction in Gemini starts the lunar month of Ashadha. Varahamihira laid a lot of emphasis on Ashadha month for gauging weather and natural phenomena. I did some limited research in the past on the solar entry chart into the Ardra constellation and Ashadha Sukla Pratipada chart (i.e. New Moon chart in Gemini). I found the latter useful in seeing natural disasters. As I do not have the time to do a thorough research into this chart, I want to share this with others in the hope that somebody may be able to spend some time on it and do a thorough research. In fact, it will be interesting to look at various solar/lunar new year charts for the Asian countries involved in the tsunami. I looked at New Moon charts in various signs, Full Moon chart in various signs and solar ingress charts into various signs and into Ardra star. Out of all these New Year charts, only one chart had one feature I was looking for. I was looking for a New Year chart for 2004-05, which had the same sign rising from Indonesia to India. If you see the normal new year chart based on Pisces new Moon or solar entry chart into Ardra, Jakarta and Colombo had different signs rising. But the Ashadha Sukla Pratipada chart cast at New Delhi, Colombo, Phuket and Jakarta had the same sign rising. Here is the chart for New Delhi: 2004 June 18, 1:57:29 am (IST), New Delhi, India Aries lagna rises with Rahu in it. The 3rd house of natural calamities has Sun, Moon, Mercury and Saturn. Mercury can show some natural disasters like earthquakes and Moon afflicted by him may show floods. If dasas are compressed to one year (duration between two Ashadha Sukla Pratipadas), the Vimsottari dasa running at the time of the tsunami was Mercury's, Ashtottari dasa was Saturn's and Yogini dasa was that of Saturn's. If you make the Ashadha Sukla Pratipada chart at Jakarta for 1883 Aug 23, you will see that Aquarius rises, the 3rd house has Ketu and 3rd lord Mars is with Sun, Moon, Venus and Saturn. There was a volcano eruption that year (Mars and Ketu associated with 3rd) and a tsunami (3rd lord afflicting Moon and Venus). In the Ashadha Sukla Pratipada chart of 2000-01 for India, the 3rd house contained Sun and Moon afflicted by Mars and 3rd lord Mercury. There was a big earthquake in that year. If someone has time, it may be a good idea to examine the Ashadha Sukla Pratipada chart at the capitals of nations for seeing natural disasters.
