Fixed Stars in Vedic Astrology and other things

Hi,

 

I was wondering about the use of individual fixed stars in Vedic

Astrology. I am not talking about the sidereal zodiac nor the

nakshastras. I am talking about the actual stars in the

constellations like Regulus,Sirius,Aldebaran,and Menkar.

 

I was wondering if individual fixed stars can be used in Vedic

Astrology. If they can be used, I wanted to know if they strengthen

the nakshastra influence that the planet is in. For instance, my Moon

is in the rashi, Aquarius. It is in the nakshastra, Satabisha.

 

My Moon is in 9'43 Aquarius

Fomalhaut(alpha star in Pisces Australis) is in 10'00 Aquarius

Sadalmelek(alpha star in Aquarius) is in 9'54 Aquarius

Ancha(a star in Aquarius)is in 9'25 Aquarius

 

 

Spirituality is very important to me. I am a strong believer in God

like my mother and my father. I don't believe in being part of

organized religion. I believe that many religious and spiritual paths

can lead to spiritual attainment. I believe in the metaphysical,but I

don't talk about it to people. Secrecy is a big part of my life. A

lot of people think people that have metaphysical insights are crazy.

It's the same with people that are highly sensitive too, but high

sensitivity is very common in people with learning disabilities and

ADHD. They can be a gift that helps them to be

empathetic,intelligent,artistice,creative and intuitive. That's how I

am too. I have had a lot of suffering including being put into

special ed for my Dyslexia and Dyspraxia being misunderstood

including being mistakened for mentally retarded and placed in

special ed with mentally retarded children even though I have above

average intellgience like many Dyslexics and Dyspraxics. In some

ways,Dyslexia and Dyspraxia can be a gift. They are good at thinking

outside the box. The same with ADHD. We're not conventional type

thinkers and learners. We have 3-Dimensional visualization thinking

ability and vivid imaginations. I have inattentive type ADHD too.

ADHD is not necessarily a disorder. Some view it as a hunter,and I am

very swift of foot. I have great speed. I have also read that ADHD

traits are seen as characteristics of an old soul that does many

things in a lifetime and suffer a lot,and so they come closer to

enlightenment. I read that in Thom Hartmann's book on ADHD. He wrote

an ADHD book called THE EDISON GENE. Edison was strongly thought to

have ADHD as well as Dyslexic,and he was very gifted as an inventor.

My Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,and ADHD symptoms were misdiagnosed as

schizoaffective bipolar over 3 yrs ago. Medications don't work well

for me because I am extremely sensitive to drugs. I get strong side

effects from medications. I am concerned that many children with

developmental disorders are being medicated with antipsychotics. A

lot of developmental disorder children are very sensitive. I am both

physically and emotionally sensitive. Herbal remedies work very

strongly on me. Chamomile tea makes me sleepy.

 

I feel that my multiethnic heritage of

Black,Portuguese,English,German,French,Italian,Puerto Rican,Native

American,and Jewish has influenced me to believe in Unity,Universal

Love,and acceptance which I feel is important in spirituality. I also

feel that my experiences as misunderstood special ed student has

helped me to identify with the underdogs and the unfortunate. I feel

that is also part of spirituality as well. My mother's health

problems,my father's health problems and my father's suicide as well

as my own mental health issues has led to my decision to be a

holistic health practitioner. I read that my 6th house lord in 10th

along with my Moon in Satabisha can indicate that I can be a health

practitioner. I also read that my Rahu in 6th aspecting Saturn in

10th can indicate a career involving alternative healing methods.

Some vedic astrologers say that Rahu casts aspects to houses

5th,7th,and 9th houses from itself. I don't trust doctors because of

my misdiagnosis history. I want to help others feel well without the

use of medications.

 

I was born to serve others,and I was in the navy for 7 years. I was

unhappy with it because I was always too sensitive,emotional,and

idealistic for the navy. I have service connected disability

compensation for Depression. I realized that my career has to involve

spirituality and not just service. I want to be a holistic

practitioner as well as a professional astrologer. I am in massage

therapy school right now,and I have given free readings and reports

in Western Astrology since 1998.

 

I checked the last time that transiting Saturn was conjuncting my

Ketu in Cancer in 12th. I found out that it was during kindergarten

and 1st grade. When I started mainstream education kindergarten,

transiting Saturn was 2 degrees conjunct my Ketu in 12th and

aspecting my 2nd house which is speech,and I did have speech

problems. Transiting Rahu was conjuncting my 1st house lord

Sun,2nd/11th house lord Mercury,and 3rd/10th house lord Venus in 3rd.

Transiting Saturn was still in my 12th when I was in 1st grade too. I

started off as a regular student in kindergarten,and then I ended up

placed in special ed in 1st grade. I feel that during that time, I

was very misunderstood. My Dyslexia and Dyspraxia included problems

with speech and auditory processing among other things. They realized

that I had high IQ,and I was switched to a different school and

placed in a special ed class that didn't have any mentally retarded

children. I still got called "retard" by the other kids. I was in

special ed with others that weren't mentally retarded but had

learning disabilities and behavior problems. I feel that being placed

in special ed and having my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,ADHD being

misunderstood was a karmic debt being paid off. It could be lessons

that I learned about being kind to others because I desperately

wanted kindness when I was treated like an outcast and called retard.

Being both very intelligent and sensitive, I hated being put down a

lot by my peers. I felt the insults keenly. I saw the ridicule on

their faces and heard the cruelty in their voice and words.

 

Transiting Saturn will be conjuncting my Ketu in 12th in a couple of

years,and I want to be ready for it. I feel that it will have

something to do with my special ed past too. Maybe I will get the

chance to help special needs children. The woman that I am

romantically interested in is Dyslexic and ADHD too. She was

daycare/preschool teacher,and she worked with children with special

needs. She wants to be a special education teacher,but she doesn't

want to work in mainstream schools. She doesn't like that ADHD

children are being medicated. She doesn't want that for her future

children nor do I. I feel that she and I could open up a holistic

practice that specializes in helping special needs children. I feel

that would be great. I feel that would be a great way to serve

others. I feel that her chart fits with that. She has Moon conj Ketu

in Pisces in 5th in her rasi,and she has Mercury conj Ketu in Pisces

in 5th in her nakshastra. She loves children a lot. I feel that could

indicate her involvement with special needs children. She works with

mentally retarded women in a group home now. I have 5th/8th house

lord Jupiter aspecting Ketu in 12th. That could indicate my special

needs involvement with children. Some vedic astrologers believe that

Ketu casts aspects 5th,7th,and 9th houses from itself. If that is so,

Ketu in 12th aspects my 5th house lord Jupiter. Therefore, I have 5th

house lord,Jupiter in 4th in mutual aspect with Ketu in 12th. When

transiting Saturn conjuncts my Ketu in 12th again, it is possible

that there might be an opportunity for me to work with special needs

people. Maybe I will give free massages to special needs people. I

believe that I will be strongly focusing on my spiritual path. I

don't know how things will be though.

Dear Raymond,

 

Vedic astrology or Jyotish relies on texts written by Maharishi's

in other words people who are very spiritual and have realized the

supreme. So until these fixed stars are mentioned in their teachings,

they are not used.

 

Some fixed stars mentioned are the Pole Star(Called Dhruva after

the great soul Dhruva Maharaja), Ursa minor (called Sapta rishi

named after 7 great sages), Canopus ( called Agastya after great

sage Agastya) who went south.

 

You can read Brihat samhita written by great Vedic astrolger

Varahmihira for more information on these stars.

But these stars are largely used for understanding bigger time

cycles.

 

In regular practice only stars on which the planets traverse is

used. But that too after Ayanamsa correction so what you see on

sky is not what you chart to read.
