Respected Chandrashekhar ji,

A guru plants a seed by giving hints. A worthy shishya developes the

theme with his inputs.

Astrology and other subjects are also like these. If such were not

the case, we would not have commenteries or TIKA written to explain

and understand meanings.

For every single thing, going back to what is written may not be

correct approach.

Most important trait of a shishya should be UTSUKATA.

Utsukata here means ability to question to elicit essence.

VARNADA should not mean only Varna in caste sense.

What is wrong in adopting different permutation combinations to know

furthur possibilities?

Dear???,

No harm in looking from a different angle if there is some reason, like

the context in which it has been said. As regards going back to texts,

if one wants to go beyond that this is fine with me. The only problem

is when one looks at texts selectively and claims to be looking at

something new. Commentaries are, mostly written by Acharyas and even

they give their interpretation of the original shloka.

I have no objection, whatsoever if some one writes a texts without

reference to what is stated by the sages. Or wants to find a meaning

not intended by the Sages. I am only opining about my views, and do not

understand why they must fall in line with somebody else's views. In

discussions it is better to use one yard stick for all.

If one wants to find some meaning then why not look at it as

enemies/disease by Katapayaadi principles? If I remember right, at

least Parashara talks about Varnada in connection with Aayu.

One last word about falling back on texts, Hindu pandits had to prove

their point by giving pramana from shastras in discussions and I prefer

to go by that.
