Guest guest
||| Hare Rama Krishna ||| Dear Swati, Allow me to share some of my understanding… Answers below… Dear Sirs, a. What is the difference in the way horoscopes are charted in the north and south and do these have a bearing on their interpretation ? [Via Nitin] A horoscope is a snapshot of the heavens at a given moment of time. There are various styles of representing this, including the North and the South Indian styles. People also use East Indian and the "Solar Wheel," amongst others. None of these have a different bearing on interpretation. Comparing the South / North Indian styles: 1) Visually – the North Indian is similar t o a "diamond" to the eyes; The South Indian is a square. 2) Signs – The signs of the zodiac are fixed in the Sout h Indian Style. The top left corner will always be represented by the sign of Pisces. The Lagna is marked accordingly. The remaining signs follow in a clock-wise direction. 3) Houses – The Houses are fixed in the North Indian style. I.e. the LAGNA will always be the top house and will follow anti-clockwise for the remaining houses. The best way to grasp this, according to me, would be to examine any chart in various styles, besides each other. b. What is the difference between Lahiri,Vakya,Krishnamurthy & Raman Ayanamsas ? [Via Nitin] The difference is agreement on math / calculations. ayanamsa From the Hindu ayana, the arc that describes the increasing gap between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs. http://en.mimi.hu/astrology/ayanamsa.html c. Why do so many people believe in numerology considering that names esp. which are written in the Roman script can be changed but since the actual name is an indian one, orginally of devnagari or other indian scripts, cannot be changed without changing the meaning? For example : Shobha De became Shobhaa De but in Devnagari script, both are written with the double AA sound only so how did it help her ? I know this particular question is not related to this group per se but with so many learned people visiting this site, I thought I might get a proper answer. [Via Nitin] Hope someone else can answer this for you. Thanks in advance, Swati Take care. Best wishes and warm regards, Nitin. || Namah Shivaaya ||
