Dear Yakshi,

Allow me to share some thoughts on the matter….

People having the planet Mars in certain positions of the chart are

classified as being Manglik.

Broadly speaking, these are houses 1, 4, 7, 8, 12.

What exactly is Mars doing? You have asked a good question to try to

understand the role of Mars as well.

Combustion is when planets come close to the Sun within certain

degrees, and are overpowered by his rays.

Its like taking a candle to a dark room, and the lights go on suddenly.

The candle remains.

The light emitting there from, remains.

However, the lights in the room are giving out so much more, that the

function of the candle, reduces.

>From what I recall (please check as well) the degrees of combustion

for the different planets are the following:

Planet Degree of combustion

Mars

17°

Mercury

13°

Jupiter

11°

Retr. Venus

Saturn

15°

Hope some of this helps. Again, the chart should be studied in

entirety to gauge more into Mars, and the rest of the planets.

Nitin.

Dear All,

If Mars is within 1 degree of Sun in the Eighth House, is the native still

a Manglik?

In general, what is the effect of combustion for a malefic planet?

Also, some authors say the planet has to be in the same nakshatra pada for

combustion. Is this true?
