Dear Ramesh,

Sanjay Ji in his translation opines that these things are to be seen

from Lagnamsa.

i tend to follow Sanjay Ji's interpretation, which removes this

confusion. In any case ref. from Karakamsa indicates, what soul

desires. What comes easily to the native is seen from the Lagnamsa.

Trinal relationship between lagnamsa & Karakamsa may result in self

actualisation. An inimical relationship may result in unfulfilled

desires in this life!

Hope this helps.

Dear Viswanadham,

Thank you for your reply. I agree Sanjayji has interpreted swamsa mostly as

lagnamsa. Let me try and skirt past the definition issue and take another

example where shloka reads as karkamsa and interpreted as karkamsa by

Sanjayji.

1.2.38 (page 39 of Updesa sutra) "if the Sun and Venus aspect/conjoin

Karkamsa, royal assignment is surely indicated." In cases where the native

has Sun or Venus as AK, will this hold good? I hope I am able to explain my

doubt clearly.

Kind regards

Ramesh

PS: BPHS also has many shlokas that are linked to placement of planets in

Karakamsa.

Dear Ramesh,

Yes. One of them being AK can give this as per the dictum, Sun &

Venus being two political planets.

AK on its own can also give rise to some Yogas. AK being the king of

the horoscope, it would certainly help.

(However, trinal relation with lagnamsa seems to give better

results. )
