Correct Birth Timing

Respected all,

I had a doubt in my mind regarding the correct birth timing. Is it

mentioned anywhere in any of the classics as to what should be taken

as the time of birth of a child. Is it that time when any one part of

his body comes out of the womb or is is the time of his first breath

or should birth time be taken when the nadi is cut. In most of the

cases, it makes little difference but in some cases, it does make a

lot of difference especially when the nakshatra changes. Kindly guide

me whether there is any definite authoritative statement on this.

Please advice me as to your views on the subject also. Kindly clarify.

Thanks & Regards

Drupad

Hi.

Dr Raman quoted Satyacharya, one of the most celebrated writers and

used the term 'Bhupatana'. This means the time one reaches the earth.

No other timing will be correct as they cant be noted correctly.

Dear Saaji,

Bhupatana refers to the fact of one being born on Bhuloka (soul leaving

whichever Loka he is occupying and falling to Bhuloka), it has

nothing to do with falling on ground. What happens in case of cesarean

section? Child does not drop on

earth, not that it is allowed to drop in normal child birth too.

In case of a dead child how does one draw up his birth chart? Ponder

over this.

Dear Drupad,

There was an error in the interpretation. `Falling' is the exact

word. So the time should be falling on earth or `dropping on earth'.

I read Sri Chandrashekharji quoting Phaladeepika as cutting the

umbilical cord. And his view is the time of first breath. Let me

share my views, the time of first breath is fine, but suppose a dead

child is born, we will have to go for other interpretation. `Cutting

the umbilical cord' also doesn't suit. Suppose for some reasons there

is a slight delay in this, will this be correct? I dont know. The

child reached this world, took the first breath also, then the delay

doesn't suit for birth time. On the other hand, a birth signifies

reaching this world, hence dropping alone should be the correct birth

time.

I haven't read Phaladeepika fully. Dr Raman didn't say about cutting

the umbilical cord. Since he was a master of all classics, I wonder

why! May be, since even Varahamihira quotes Satyacharya He might have

given more weightage to His views. He makes a distinction

between `Shirodaya' and says this shouldn't be used.

My conclusion is purely based on reading these great personages and

using ifs and buts. You can make a better conclusion.

Best Wishes,

Saaji

Dear Chandrashekharji,

Pranam.

Correct, this should be the right definition. By 'dropping' Dr Raman

means the moment of dropping, or coming to Bhuloka, it was my

inability to explain it correctly!
