Dear Bipin and others,

 

The recording and uploading is done by Sri Seshu Putcha. He maintains the site

http://vedicastro.home.comcast.net and organizes the classes. I just go there

and speak. The real effort behind the site is his. Those who appreciate the

site may send thank you notes to him at vedicastro (AT) comcast (DOT) net. He is a very

sincere and spiritual gentleman.

 

I do plan to continue the classes until all the students have a good background

in most of the fundamentals. After 40 classes are done, we plan to burn CDs

with all the MP3's and distribute them for the benefit of those who don't have

a broadband connection.

 

Several students at this class are beginners and hence I am starting from the

basics and slowly building the concepts. So it may be boring for some, but very

approapriate for some others.

 

Some other members sent mails to me thanking me for my generosity. At the risk

of sounding pompous, I must say that I am not doing anyone a favor. After all,

this knowledge is not my "property". It belongs to maharshis and many great

teachers from whom I got it. Knowledge should never be treated like money or

other material properties. I sincerely believe that I have no rights over

Jyotish knowledge and I only have some responsibilities. It should always be

shared with the worthy. It is foolish to think of one's knowledge as one's

property. Knowledge is the only thing that increases when it is shared!

 

I have only two worries. One is that I may be imparting wrong knowledge and

committing a sin. But, if I wait till my knowledge becomes perfect, it may take

forever. So I take a risk. Secondly, I may be giving this knowledge to unworthy,

who may abuse the knowledge. Again, I pray to the Lord and take a risk. In any

case, I am prepared for any punishment.

 

If anybody who listens to the MP3's wants to offer me Guru Dakshina, please

offer a donation to a nearby temple in my name (Venkata Rama Narasimha Rao,

Gautama-sa gotram, Poorvabhadra nakshatram, Kumbha rasi, Kanya lagnam).

PS: Reagrding Om at the beginning of a mantra, I have heard both the opinions on

whether it counts as a word or not. My view is that it counts. Someone asked

this question.

 

PPS: Version 6.0 of the free software "Jagannatha Hora Lite" will be released on

Guru Pournima after my Satya Narayana vratam. It will contain annual Tithi

Pravesha charts, Tithi Ashtottari dasa, Moola dasa (without the ability to

change definition/options) and Drigdasa. So wait for it and download it on

Friday!

Dear Narasimha

There is no sin in what you do. In fact what you are doing is the work of

the Maharishi's and this is good. If someone uses the knowledge in a wrong

way must we stop teaching Jyotisa altogether? Even Ravan the son of the

great Maharishi Pulastya misused the knowledge and even made the navagraha

stand at his central hall in obeidience as he placed sani under his feet.

Was the Maharishi wrong in imparting knowledge to his son? So it is not

going to be your fault and you should go ahead and share this. Neither are

you to be blamed for wrong knowledge nor are you to be blamed for giving to

a bad person. you have given what you know and those who are taking it are

taking it as it is and shall use and filter this accordingly as their own

knowledge grows.

Well done. jagannath will surely bless you for this good work for Him.
