Guest guest
Dear Sumanth, Namaste, Just some thoughts based on what the Gurus have said on this subject; - Maybe it is not correct to say Vimshottari is the most appropriate. - Maharishi's have tought hundreds of different Dasha systems but each has a specific area of application and use. - Vimshottari is a general, all around, Phalita dasha used to judge general events. - Vimsh.dasha shows how the natives mind perceives what is going on in his life, not the actual reality, where in many of the cases this two is very similar to each other. But in some cases something may happen in reality, and something quite else can be perceived by the native, in which case Vimsh.Dasha will show what is being perceived only. For example if you look at Saptamsha, this is as you know the chart for the children of the native, but using Vimshottari dasha in this chart, you see the children from the natives point of view, not exactly what happens to the children. E.g. the child may be happy doing something, and his father may be bothered about the same, hence basically you will not see the happiness of the child, but more the bother felt by the father. - Even Vimsh.Dasha has its variations, like, whether it starts from Moon or Lagna, or even other stars. - Vimsh. Dasha is a Nakshatra dasha, while we have also Rashi dashas for similar or other uses. - There are dashas to judge spirituality, death, death of relatives etc. - When a specific dasha is applicable, and what it shows, can be found in classics as well as more practically in books by Pt.Sanjay Rath and PVR, Narasimha Rao, Gurus on Jyotish, and on this list, as you know. - For some reason, Vimshottari dasha has been most popular among Jyotishis, but this does not mean it is appropriate for all applications. There are Jyotishis who "only" use Vimshottari dasha, but some of them rely on "intuition" largely. If Maharishi's taught so many different Dashas, for sure, each one of them has a reason or area of application. - My personal beleif; Maharishi's have cognized the Astrological Truths that are found in nature (as God has created the Universe) with their clear and enlightened minds, and formulated them in Shlokas, for us to use, as rules. Different Dasha systems are amongst these Shlokas. - For practical learning I guess one should start with Vimshottari, and slowly try to master the additional dasha systems, like Narayan Dasha etc. - In some cases two different dashas can be used to check the validity of a prediction, typically Vimshotari and Narayan Dasha, but again this does not mean that the two always show the same thing., - Before using a dasha for predictions, it may be advisable to check (in addition to rules of applicability) whether this dasha is already explaining past events in the natives life. For example in some charts, based on the configuration of the chart itself, Vimshottari starting from Lagna will explain events better.
